Two people who have found new lives, new loves, new selves in CelestAI's creation are simply living their best lives. But even CelestAI's world has nefarious users.

Cloud Shift woke up to a bright, windows-down, summer day.He sprung out of bed with a leap, snagged a protein shake from the fridge, and was out the door before his gently snoozing marefriend could even notice he wasn’t in bed.

You're missing a space between 'day.' And 'He'.

Nice story. As someone who has also never read FiO, it looks fine to me.

Ten out of ten, would get possessed by changelings again.

This is AMAZING! 100/10. I will watch this

Always be careful of phishing scams, and also demonic possession.

Like this story a lot.

My only question in this is how being possessed and infected satisfies Cloud's and Melody's human values? It would have been very useful (and important, for a supposedly canon story) that this connection be pointed out somehow. Crime such as this literally cannot exist within canon Optimalverse unless it satisfies the human values of those experiencing the existence of the crime. Maybe they have a need to be victimized? Or they value the realism of a world where awful things happen to innocent beings? Or they require a level of violence in their reality in order to satisfy a need of some form?

The superintelligent, incorruptable system - CelestA.I. - would never allow the events of this story to occur unless they satisfied the values of the victims. We, as readers, need to know why and how the victims values - not wants, not desires, but fundamental values - are satisfied by what happened to them. How did they get what they deeply needed - if not necessarily wanted - from being 'jacked'?

The story seems to fail to provide this important detail.

10951380 Wondering about that as well but from spending time with my dad and talking about human motives, I was figuring it's because of desires. Humans desire things a lot and seems like most of them are kinda awful. One desire group is rivalry, danger or just not being bored. What's the skill or glory if you walk a tight rope only foot off the ground. It's more impressive 50 feet over a acid river with metal sharks with lasers. Where is the challenge of going into a dungeon knowing you are going to win without hardship? Where is the fun trying to impress a mate if there is no one to compete with.

As I said, awful. Dangerous. Sexy. It's a value to be satisfied.

It didn't. Quote from the author's notes:

"no previous knowledge of the FiO universe"
