I didn't know. I assumed that Hearth's Warming Eve was December 24th, but who knows for sure.

Red squirrel? Princess Sally? There are so many lore shockwaves here that they kinda distract from the story on that one.
That being said, most of Discord's gifts show actually forethought and emotion on his part. (Particular AJ's gift). You think Pinkie Pie would know what Christmas was, she celebrates it with Minty every year. :-)

Yes, the "red squirrel" is a reference to Princess Sally Alicia Acorn. From what I've read, she is a squirrel/chipmonk. Though that ignores the original blonde hair "Pink Sally", the black haired Sally, the robotisized Sally, and the time Sally was in NICOLE's hand held module. I think that's all. Anyways, it does refer to Sally.

Sorry. I looked for a Hearth's Warming screenshot but the only good one I could find had Starlight. I'd have created my own cover art, but my art is less like da Vinci, or even van Gogh, and more like Pollock.
But for canon purposes, Starlight should be thought of visiting family and friends elsewhere in Equestria.
