Coming from a world of magical horses and into a world of talking ape things, Sunset misses conversing with her fellow equine. Well she gets the chance when Applejack needs her help with the farm horse, Missy. But it's not what she expected.

You really need to look at an editor. While there are no words misspelled, that's because a word with a similar spelling ends up there instead. Also, the italicising of some of Missy's speech is missing, especially in the first half.

7738003 Neigh, not 'nay'.

"Ha, ha, hilarious," Sunset responded, rolling her eyes playfully. "Seriously though you seem to forget that my species of equine is sentient. We have magic and talk. Horses here just...nay and eat hay."

Never think of these things. . . Other effects of going through the portal. Animals always did seem more sentient in the show.

7738003 ah I'll fix it. I should have waited to upload it. I finished this at like, 2 am. :twilightblush:

All of the errors have been fixed! (I hope.) If you guys find anything else I'll fix it!

I have to admit fully and very truthfully when i read this I almost fell out of my chair laughing this was great there needs to be at least six sequels to this.

Eh. I feel like this could ha e been better if it went for parody.

This is pretty cute. Though at

Seriously though you seem to forget that my species of equine is sentient.

Should be sapient; however, with describing Missy's emotions, that doesn't bother me.

Yeesh. With friends like those, no wonder Sunset enjoyed Missy's company so much.

Don't get me wrong, this is cute, but talk about insensitive.

Would Sunset really know what's most attractive in a standard earth horse? That'd be like asking a human which gorilla is the handsomest.

You know, ever think about how the grass and hay that Equestrians eat is almost certainly selectively bred far more than ours is? We never see them eat grass off the ground, anymore - probably a bit like trying to eat a crab apple or archaic wheat raw.

7738883 it's the principle of the thing I suppose. :rainbowhuh:

Or Sunset's mental powers are manifesting.

Missy’s whiney

whinny. That's how it's spelled.

As for the story itself, far too short, rather predictable, the bit where the story has to go into parentheses to explain why it's weird to pet Missy on the muzzle just feels way too tell-y, and the comments of Sunset's friends border on casual callous speciesism for the sake of a cheap laugh. Also, and this might just be personal taste, but Sunset and Missy's casual objectification of Storm feels very tacked-on.

Sunset, next time someone asks if you are attracted to horses on that world, ask them if they are attracted to apes. Either they will get the point or be confused to the point of distraction.

Now I'm wondering what would happen if Storm went through the portal. Would he turn into a human or would he gain the ability to talk openly and possibly gain a horn/wings?

7739235 Google docs failed me again

Some porn I saw when I was younger because I was curious say otherwise to a human being able to get it on with a horse...
*Curls up in a corner and rocks back and forth*

You try being 15 with all the hormones that come with it, but the mental capacity of someone around 10 and seeing women do that with horses on the internet.

7739544
You honestly think where I can remember exactly where I found something 14 years ago?

7739554
I think seeing a man having some butt fun with a horse is about enough for anyone, especially after learning that he died because of it.

Aw~ this is cute~

Not gonna lie, at first I thought this was gonna turn out to be a prank AJ was pulling and she'd just hidden a communicator somewhere...

Hnnnnggg, I wish there was more sunset-is-casual-friends-with-a-horse now. Before it was just random people wanting her to screw with horses, but this story opened my eyes to the beauty of platonic pony-turned-human-and-horse friendship. :derpytongue2:

Seriously though, this is definitely adorable and I loved the end

Don't I get a say in this? Storm asked.
“Nope,” Both Sunset and Missy responded, laughing happily.

:rainbowlaugh:BHFF's (Best Horse Friends Forever)

Not being a normal sort of reader here, I was concerned about the picture--Sunset chewing on a mouthful of hay. Unless she kept her horse teeth, that's going to cause problems. We humans have a handicap when it comes to teeth: Once ours wear down, they're gone. Grass and hay have a high silica content just perfect for wearing down teeth.

Horse teeth keep growing throughout their lives. If a cavity forms on the chewing surface of a horse's tooth from eating too much sweet feed, it'll likely be ground away and disappear when the horse switches to chewing hay or grass. Lucky horses...

7739972 damn that is kinda lucky.

Did anyone else think Sunset's friends were messing with her, while they were reading. When Sunset entered the barn and heard Missy talking to her. At first I thought one of Sunset friends were hidden nearby pretending to be Missy. Although it would have been a bit funny, I'm glad it didn't turn out that way. This was a great story and deserves a thumbs up and a fave.

7739972 Damn lucky indeed. Horses don't have to pay for dental care. Although gums are also a health concern.

Really cute take on the "Sunset talks to horses" gig. Given how much guff Sunset was getting from her friends I kept expecting the whole thing to be an elaborate gag, but I'm glad it didn't play out that way.

I feel like this story is testing the waters to see how people might react to sunset actually having the sexy fun times with Missy/Storm. WELL NEWS FLASH, BUDDY, IT'S BEEN DONE ALREADY AND IT SELLS FOR CHEAP, IF YOU DON'T CARE FOR YOUR WORK ETHIC!

On a more serious note, there was a lot in here that tried to come off as light hearted, but instead just added up being... well, out of character, I guess. An example is AJ. The way she gets Sunset to to talk to Missy feels like she doesn't really believe she can talk to her. This is later reinforced by her expressing suprise when she is told about it (an indeterminate time later, like did S just forget to tell her that they could talk after all?). Anyways, lots of subtle context that you may or may not have intended kinda ruined it.

no matter how homesick she felt, getting it on with anything of her former genus was, well bestiality

The primary logical reason bestiality is outlawed is because animals aren't sapient, and therefore cannot give consent. (There's also "because many lawmakers find it squicky," but that's not a logical reason, that's emotional.) Certain combinations of animal and human could also injure the animal or the human when penetrative intercourse is involved, but a sapient animal would be able to understand that, and such a coupling would be able to avoid actions that harmed each other.

If animals were sapient, you'd be left with "eew, horse cooties" as the only reason to deny such a relationship, and SciTwi should be capable of comprehending that.

That cover art.

even though technically Sunset was still equine, she was also human, which meant no matter how homesick she felt, getting it on with anything of her former genus was, well bestiality.

She's a horse on the inside. She's got all kinds of crazy horse organs. Horgans. You don't even know.

But really... Harkness Test.

Twilight had gone into a lengthy ramble about how even though technically Sunset was still equine, she was also human, which meant no matter how homesick she felt, getting it on with anything of her former genus was, well bestiality.

Sunset: GEE THANKS, TWILIGHT, THAT'S SO... CONSIDERATE!!!

Awww. This was a very sweet story.

Of course, since this story shows ordinary horses to be sapient, it means horses are slaves rather than livestock. Buying slaves for use as sexual partners is a whole 'nother legal issue.

Well, this was kinda funny, especially the last paragraph or so; but yeah, it should have a [sex] tag for talking about sex.
(talking about sex overtly requires either [mature] or [teen]+[sex] tags)

The primary logical reason bestiality is outlawed is because animals aren't sapient, and therefore cannot give consent.

This logic is honestly pretty stupid. Animals are PROPERTY. Consent is required for people. We'd have a hell of a time if we had to get consent from our pets to put them outside, or debark them, or neuter them. And then somehow, I doubt we would get consent to kill and eat them.
Also, bestiality IS legal in some places. Where it's illegal has nothing to do with consent, as laws specifically make allowances for causing whatever harm is necessary to make them useful for human utility. It is, in fact, all about the squick. (And religious laws)

Consent is required for people.

Define "people".

People, people please! Are we really arguing about the logistics of Sunset’s having sex with a horse? Because if we are, carry on. This is an interesting topic. :trollestia:

I thought that this was going to go somewhere but it didn't.

That was a sweet story. While I wouldn't take it as far as you did, the idea that an Equestrian pony on earth would have a unique ability to interact with its native equines is always worth thinking about. I'm looking forward to when the movie series itself addresses it.

This is the point where the schizophrenic nature of law shows its ugly head. Pets are property for all practical purposes of law. Animals are also perfectly capable of consenting within own framework of their standard mental capacity, when relations with other animals are concerned - although the ownership law trumps this, allowing commercial breeding etc. But then when human sex is considered, suddenly animal is advanced to a position of "person" and simultaneously both its own mental capacity and its status of property are disregarded; instead human mental capacity standard is applied to determine "consent".

If you try to take a logical look at this mess, you're in for a headache and some facepalming - how, depending entirely on context of status of the human, status of the animal can migrate the whole spectrum from "thing" to "mentally handicapped human".

Sorry, but the first thing that came to my mind was that. :rainbowlaugh:

Happy 400th up.
