"Sanity is for the weak." - People who know good writing advice

E

During Twilight's visit of the Crystal Empire, she stumbles upon Flash Sentry, who is struggling to work on a piece of literature he wants to donate to the local library. As Twilight uses the opportunity to help Flash develop his story, another kind of development begins taking place.

Based on a true story.

Very sweet. Of course, when you said it was based on a true story, I thought you were talking about your own love life! :rainbowlaugh:

This is actually kinda brilliant. It was clever and worked on multiple levels both showing how a relationship and a story develop in concert with the characters. Very interesting. Will definitely read again.

So is this based off an true story for you?

Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. :pinkiehappy:

That was adorably awkward. Excellent work.

Hah, that was cleverly done! :pinkiehappy:

Well, that was clever.

7501281 That was extremely clever!

Gah, the existentialism. It makes me dizzy.

The start made me think "Oh, joy, another amateur author that I'll have to tell off for not using dialogue tags." Then by the end, I was leaning back in my chair wondering if I even had words to describe the experience.

Well played.

this, this was amazing. a story about writing a story as you and the characters add story elements as the story is being written/told is an amazing concept.

I see what you have done here. A most excellent piece of mind-messing metafiction. Bravo, good author!

Now this is something I don't see every day. Wow. A story within a story, written by the characters themselves, the telling of both improving as we keep reading? I think this is a great example of three-dimensional storytelling.

Some part of me just wanted to gush at how adorable and gut-achingly sweet the whole story was, and the rest of me just wanted to pick apart this story due to its meta-theatricality. The only way this could be even more mind-blowing was that this was really based on a true story, which I would really like hearing about as well.

Conflicted as it made me feel (which is irrelevant), it was brilliantly executed. Kudos to you for writing this!

I approve of this Flashlight story. There needs to be more.:twilightsmile::heart::twilightsmile::heart:

Where's a mind blown emoji when you need one? :pinkiehappy:

That was delightfully meta, and pretty cute too.

Love it, love it! I wish we can have something like this on the show with Flashlight! :pinkiehappy:

Something I have seen done before... often worse, a few times better... but, all in all, quite a neatly managed little story... meta is not an issue as long as it is handled well, and you have handled it quite well... Three points for you to Team FlashLight
