Most in depth lore chapter yet Mani <3
So glad to see this continue.
Also, Fluttershy makes the weirdest dom.
Dam after so long i wanted a twilight chapter
8009519 Twilight chapter is coming, expect it soon. ;)
Looks like Sweetie Belle's a natural.

Or at least she will be in a few years.
Well this was a good read, it was interesting to see all the different slave poses. I can't wait to see the maids section of the Clocktower Society I wander if Stallions are admitted in the organizations.

You may be interested in Troposphere's in-progress CTS story Dominant Creed. There are several other CTS stories by various authors that explore bits of the lore, which runs rather deep.
Ok, I LOVE this fic. Very well informed about the ins and outs of kinky culture and it emphasizes CONSENT ABOVE ALL ELSE. that last bit is what sells me on it, so much more than Equestria Trainers League or Fall of Equestria type stories and what draws me back so much more often that I look forward to every update the main story gets!!!
Anyway... I'm looking forward to seeing what more you bring to the whipping post!
Ha. I remember that.

More like cutest~ But, apparently we can't expect leniency just because shes kind~
This raises some questions about Dash and Fluttershy's relationship; they were in different groups heading into the tower in chapter one, but this seems to hint that they get together regularly.
Not that this chapter wasn't incredibly hot, but is there any sort of ETA on when we can expect the next actual story chapter? I'm anxious to see what happens next, particularly given the existence of certain pictures that hint on what happens.
8009385 Not really I think Flutters would prolly fall into a category of Doms commonly called Service Doms. She's a switch who enjoys being a Dom because she knows how happy being dominated makes her and she wants to give that to other people.
q.q link no longer works?

There's a new link now that ought to work. (Ignore the "temporary backup" one).
Interesting...
8046561 Hmmm~ I can imagine the stallions having a separate book/manual, but a separate Clocktower Society site? Seems like a waste of resources to me, as well as it seems to go against some of the baser concepts of the Society. I think it's more likely that it's because Equestria's population has a female-heavy skew, with mares outnumbering stallions by a large margin since that is what we see in the show. Or more likely it's a typo/oversight by the fanfiction artist or by the author of the manual. Just my two bits~
8019772 its by the author herself if you search her artist tag on derpibooru or visit her tumblr you can see more of her work
And in one sentence you perfectly captured why Fluttershy would enjoy this,
Her being a switch, focused on pet play makes perfect sense. This whole thing really felt like her. All around, for all the potential issues I've had character wise, this NAILED Fluttershy (in more ways then one I'd think) Made a perfect case for showing what she gets out of being in the Society, and how she's into it and able to do this while outside being so shy and timid.
Plus some really fun stuff. Just, really great and makes me look forward to the future of this fic even more.

You bring up good points. Although I would point out that the ponies can hold grudges--although typically only for a couple days or whatever the length of the episode is. I just felt that the "patching up" part of re-strengthening their relationship seemed rushed. Could have used another half-chapter or so.
I think you might have misunderstood what I meant regarding the founders. Aside from making Equestria, they made the Clocktower Society, and the statue was apparently well-known enough to appear in modern texts debating whether it had existed or not despite attempts to remove all evidence of the Clocktower--having been presumably destroyed only a thousand years ago (which we now know to be when the Society went underground). But that gives us all the time between the founding of Equestria and Nightmare Moon debacle where the statue existed and ponies would have known about their founders. Unless there was a concentrated attempt to suppress information about the sexual habits of the founders--which the followers of the Fire of Devotion wouldn't have done and which from records of statue still being around weren't done by the state (considering that the Princesses approved of the Society), that still gives at least hundreds of years during which ponies would have known about what their founders were like. Considering that Society members suffered from condemnation and prejudice, while the founders were--presumably--revered. Unless opinions on the founders changed drastically over the past thousand years, they shouldn't be held in the high regard that they are.
On a side note, the switch from the "Fire of Friendship" to the "Fire of Devotion" feels iffy to me. I'm not too fond of when friendship is toppled from its place as "most powerful and important force in the setting". Even in sexed up worlds, that's typically still there. That might just be an unwillingness to accept change, though.
8150790 They can hold grudges, but mostly don't, and Twilight had enough to think about at the time, plus they had good reasons for doing what they did. It fits her.
The Founders, it's likely as simple as 'Don't think about it" that every revered the founders as the Founders, their sexual exploits were simply.. not actively suppressed, but more, not really talked about outside the Society types. Like how America's founders were mostly all slave owners. Something no one really likes talking about, isn't hidden or denied, but just, kind of glossed over a lot. Till finally it was forgotten entirely save for some rumors.
And I am with you on retconning it to 'Fires of Devotion" feeling kind of wrong. I don't like fics retconning canon in general. It's not THAT bad, but still feels a bit wrong. Like I said, story wise, the fic does have issues, but they pale compared to just how damn GOOD it is at the whole core idea of safe, sane, consensual kink.
I thought of the Society as a second home. I had friends there. And then, because of one argument, they ran me off. Love and tolerance my ass. Stay well away from these hypocrites. You were warned
So are the padlocks purely symbolic? Do they actually serve as a lock to a more conventional closure of the collars when applied? Or are they clipped to a ring hanging off the collar as a symbol of the submissive's consent? I know the collars have a 'quick release' as described in the fic, and I think of the concept of quick release as an emergency alternative therefore implying a more traditional closure, but I don't know if that's part of the context. So are the padlocks threaded through a more standard buckle closure to keep it secure?
Parts of this comment might seem redundant, but I often have a lot of trouble with getting my questions across as intended, and sometimes redundancy seems to be all that works.
8156135 You'd have to ask Mani about the specific design features, but on the 'are they purely symbolic' question, you could probably argue that most of the symbols and language used in play are symbolic? Or... maybe not the best word.
A "Slave" inside of Clocktower might be objectified, traded and passed around much like a piece of property, as long as they communicate that is what they want. The collars, cuffs, padlocks and words used in play are part of building up that fantasy and image, symbols used to communicate that fantasy of slavery, but it is implicitly understood that outside of the scope of the play a pony is not an object.
The one other thing I can think to mention that I think you're asking about? Not as sure. They would be meant to be practical, in the sense you can safely attach a leash to a collar, tug it, and expect it to be build well enough to neither snap or cause harm to the submissive. Which is something I've noticed is important to keep in mind when I've looked online for day collars (things that someone into kink would recognize, but look like jewelry to those not aware), is a lot of them are clearly not meant to be tugged on by a leash because either they'd break, or might cause unwanted strangling because of how they're made.
8184600 I don't know if you already understand this from my original comment, but when I asked if the locks are purely symbolic, I meant do they actually function as a lock, securing a more conventional closure of the collar. I know they serve as a symbol of who owns the slave (at least I'm assuming it does since it's marked with the cutie mark of the owner or with the Clocktower logo if they are slaves on loan. So if they secure a closure then the answer to my question is no they are not purely symbolic, but if they hang from a d-ring or something then yes they are purely symbolic. Also, I know it's all play but since those who wear their collars at any given time are understood by the Clocktower community to be in submissive character, I figured the idea of it not being real was implied and stating it outright would be a waste of time.
Also, now that I think about it, this question actually stemmed from something else I was wondering but never asked. In the chapter where Twilight was saved from that fall, the pony who dove after her removed the collar using a 'quick release'. I understand that being there in case of situations where the collar has to be removed ASAP, but the labeling of said clasp as a 'quick release', by association carries the label of fail safe. I suppose any competent author who chose to use such terminology would likely understand this, and I'm not suggesting otherwise, I'm just curious if there is a more conventional closure. For example are they buckled on? Or is the 'quick release' clasp the only way they come off and go on?
This...
Is the greatest chapter I've ever encountered relating to describing the act of submission in my life....
Excuse me while I scrape my eyebrows off the ceiling. It's always the quiet ones.
This was adorable!
even when being a dom, the Element of Kindness doesn't give an order without checking with the one she's ordering.
