This story is a sequel to Car Radio

Sunset has had a bad night already. First a breakdown in her car, and now more thoughts and guilt from her past were edging in on her mind. To get it off of her chest, she goes to the only friend she can trust: Rarity.

My one-shot Sunday story for 5/29/16

Sad... very sad... (too bad,i didn't cry :pinkiehappy:)

It's a very good story, although i hav a question
.. why Rarity? I mean, if it's about parents loss, i'm sure someone like Applejack will understand.

Anyway, i really enjoyed it..

Why Rarity? Well because it was the first one to come to my mind...also I ship it hard.

It wasn't Sunset fault something crashed into the car, what?
Was it a hit run, or something else, and she reacted out of fear kicking at what grabbed her leg, I wonder what will happen now.

This is nicely balanced on the cusp of innocent versus monster, just where I like my Sunset. I'm curious to see where this goes.

If they'd just been sharing their grief, Applejack would make sense, but a confession like this wouldn't sit right with her.

First of all, let me get part of my childhood that was dug up by the chapter title out of way first:

The pacing is really excellent here, and the characterization is very believable. Sunset's history has a lot of gaps, so naturally it's a veritable playground for authors to explore. There're plenty of fics that have used the idea that Sunset killed her EQG equivalent, whether intentionally or accidentally, but I think this story approaches the act (and the aftermath) in the most reasonable manner of those I've read.

The only thing I'm left wondering is why none of the EQG 5--having learned that the current Sunset is from Equestria--ever questioned when exactly the switch had happened. It seems like EQG Sunset was a student at CHS long before Pony Sunset crossed over, so did the Mane 5 simply assume that the Sunset they had known had been the pony version the whole time?

Also, there seems to be a little contradiction in that Rarity says she wasn't aware of Sunset's father's death, but then later describes how everyone in CHS had heard about the accident and even visited her in the hospital. I think if I were to work this angle, I'd have Rarity recall the accident, and then have Sunset say that Rarity still doesn't know what really happened, allowing for a strong segue into the flashback.

Neither of those things interrupted my enjoyment of the story, however.

I'm going to continue this little plotline in another story.

Yeah, you better; don't be hangin' Sunny out to dry like that, broheim, :duck:

This made me depressed. You're good at this.

Rarity didn’t know if she could argue with that. Could she ever look at Sunset the same way again?

fockin’ wut? Your friend tells you she hates herself for ensuring her own survival (make no mistake, not kicking the other her or talking about being a double could only mean death or worse), and you agree with her!!
So she didn’t care they died? Why would she? She didn’t know those people and was just trapped in a very, very alien world. There were bigger concerns at the time.

Now that her existence is perpetual self-loathing, it’s eating away at her, because of course it is, and the only thing her supposed friend can think is equivalent to ‘yeah, you really suck.’ This isn’t nearly so bad some of the shit Sunny pulled as a demon, and that was apparently forgivable. But some perfectly reasonable behavior? Heaven forbid!

Aside from that, I loved this story and hope see more.

Fully agree with this statement. Sure, from an outsider's perspective, taking the identity of Human Sunset is a morally wrong thing and would be Identity Fraud, except you’d have to see it from Sunset’s eyes. She just popped into an unknown world in an unknown body, scared shitless. If presented with the same circumstances, and the ability to have a proper identity, likely you’d have done the same.

Also, she’s already feeling the guilt, she already acknowledges that she was wrong and is sad and sorry about it. We shouldn’t pile more guilt on her when she’s already trying to repent for the event?
