The voyage was supposed to be quick one, only a few days of sailing as they redeployed to a new theater of operation. But when the men of the 250th New York are caught in a storm, they are surprised to emerge in a strange new world where the moon never seems to move from its place in the sky. Filled with weird new creatures, from Ponies, Timber wolves, and Griffons and on the verge of civilian and government tension, this new world they are in seems to be more dangerous than the one they left before.

Ironclads were primarily assigned to the blockading fleets or river units. Vessels used to transport troops would be wooden ships, steam or sail powered, possibly with some light guns, but nothing very powerful. If they were expected to run into trouble, they would have been escorted by real warships. Confederate raiders such as the 'Alabama' would attack mostly merchantman or these lightly armed transports as they themselves had relatively few, but major caliber, guns; depending mostly on their speed to escape warships.
