Pithy Statement

T

It seems innocent enough. A belly rub feels amazing after you have been turned into a pony. The only catch? During the full moon, anyone who rubs the belly of a pony, is cursed to become one themselves. Not only that, but getting a good belly rub then is just the best thing ever!

Contains TF, maybe some TG, and a delightful amount of belly-rubbing.

Re-imagining of an idea from one of the talented writer, Lab's, works and with ideas from ValenceBond.

You get to be a pony and belly rubs!? Where do I sign up? :pinkiecrazy:

Also you might want to fi-fix the re-repetition.

kicking her her back legs and almost, almost getting that finger

I'll definitely be watching for more updates to this.

7139824 Gah, thanks for the save. Wrote this one up after my second double black russian, so it was likely there was to be a few mistakes. Thanks to awesome readers, however, even my terrible writing shines up great.

EDIT: And just installed a souped-up grammar checker that should be able to catch those next time. I really love libreoffice

7139864 Uh, not sure where you are coming from. Not russian as in the place (I would have said Russian), I mean the drink.

Note, being an Aussie I mix mine with cola, it's a cultural thing

Well... this is certainly an....... interesting concept.. To say the least.

i actually find it cute and funny, like one of my cats

Oh boy, partial immunity sounds fun, lots of sorta anthro pony people running around. Would centaurs even be possible like that? Some desperate for belly rubs pony hanging onto a persons back or legs begging while the person is trying to ignore them and get away.

Yay for awesome software. :yay:

I personally use MSWord, which works nicely as well.

7139893
Don't think I've ever met a black Russian. Don't think I've met any Russians in fact.

Hmm...

Definitely needs some tightening up, but it's good for a giggle nonetheless.

Must... make... my... own... take... on... this... idea...
(that's cool, right? If I take this idea, and make it my own? (I'm just gonna go ahead, and do that, linking here)

7141071 Please also give credit to the two ponies I gave to as well. This was the first time I have worked with other pony's ideas, I really don't want them to miss out :twilightoops:

Alright, I do have a few questions though. Like, how did this curse start? What are it's rules?

7141347 The rules seem to be. Getting infected turns you into a pony. On the full moon, your belly itches and needs to be rubbed. If anyone rubs your belly, they start to turn into a pony too (curse passed on). Immune people don't get turned at all. Partially immune get turned in bits and pieces. Nopony knows how it started, but society is trying to move on and integrate this odd new happening as best as it can.

The original story that inspired Damage to write this is by Lab, and it's unpublished right now. You can read the gdoc version here if you want to see what started it all (it's barely over 2 pages long, I think Damaged's first chapter is longer):

Gdocs: Werepony by Lab

As for the rules, 7141353 has it mostly right, though it's more based on some ideas from ValenceBond, like permanent pony TF instead of it being a were-curse once a full moon, immunity to the curse, and having mixed people living together instead of it being treated as a silly zombie-style apocalypse.

A lot is left open and vague in case you want to take your direction on the idea. There is no hard and fast list of rules, just variations on the idea. If you wanted it to adhere to Damaged's version though, the list above is a good start.

The short G-Doc was part of a twenty-minute writing challenge. The "rules" in the original short were pretty much just for a simple full-moon werepony that spread the curse through receiving bellyrubs instead of biting, but they still found their human cards whenever the full moon was over. We started discussing it and I'm not quite sure who piped up with the idea of making it a full-fledged ponypocalypse, though to be honest, it was probably Canary. I guess you could say the original is not canon, just the inspiration for the "universe".

Also, I think "partially immune" makes more sense if you just leave it as "resistant".

There really aren't any set rules. Kind of hard to have them with personal preference tending to vary so much, and it's not the kind of rules that are worth enforcing anyway. If you have ponies that become infectious bellyrub-seekers during the full moon, you're good to go. As an example, these are my preferred options after the discussion of an actual setting and not what the original was written with:

Lab Rules (it's a title and a declaration)
1. A full moon makes all ponies crave bellyrubs, and anybody who gives them one also becomes a pony. After the full moon is over, the infected remain as ponies but aren't infectious or rub-hungry until the next full moon. The type of pony depends entirely on the person—a unicorn will not always make more unicorns. The effects of the full moon will not be influenced by cloud cover, line of sight, or other obstacles, and the for the sake of the uninfected, a full moon lasts from dusk til dawn. Changelings will be unable to disguise themselves as anything other than an infectious species during this time, due to the amount of concentration required to change to such a different body shape.

2. A bellyrub counts as rubbing or scratching a pony's underside (for simplicity's sake, it's still the underside if they roll onto their back). A simple poke won't be contagious on its own, but good luck resisting the urge to rub that belly afterwards. Same with resting your hand on the belly but not moving it is also not contagious on its own, but it is even more difficult to resist the ensuing urge to bellyrub—don't tempt fate. A pony cannot use magic to directly force the requisite bellyrub motions. Ponies attempting to scratch their own bellies will find it doesn't sate the itch, even if they use more than just their hooves to do so. Resistant humans that are partially changed can scratch their own bellies without further changes, but it won't sate their itch, even if they still have fingers. Bellyrubs from other infected are just as unsatisfying.

3. Roughly 5-10% of humans are immune. No amount of bellyrubs will convert them. Resistance to the disease occurs in about 20% of humans, but all it really does is limit how much changes at a time—with less resistance meaning more changes and more resistance meaning fewer changes—and once infected, they follow the same rules regarding the full moon. If you want to stay partway between human and pony, pray you get just the changes you want and then try to avoid giving bellyrubs for the rest of your life, because your human parts will still be vulnerable. A body part will change into its analog (hands and feet into hooves, arms into forelegs, legs into hindlegs, etc.) but in the case of horns, wings, or similar parts, they will grow in when the part of the body they would be attached to changes. This means centaurs will not be possible, though satyrs are a possibility as long as they avoid further infection. Anthro is never the end result.

4. Possible species include batponies, unicorns, pegasi, earth ponies, zebras, changelings, and crystal ponies.

Holy crap this ended up being way longer than I expected.

TLDR: Rules and results may vary between headcanons.

You know, I think I might acutally die from adorableness here. I'm not kidding either.

7141711 Thanks for clearing it up. I doubt I am going to take this far, it was only a short silly story. The most important rules to be considered:

Belly Rubs == Good
Ponies == Good
Do not resist == Required

Lab

7142188 No problem at all. Was mostly trying to clarify the origin, and then I forgot to stop typing. This is your story; take it as far as you want in whatever direction you want.

Keep in mind though that the idea itself is pretty open ended. For a while we were tossing around ideas and variations just with the basis of "Rub Belly, Become Pony".

For example:
- Ponies cannot be harmed, and trying to do so results in ponification for the person doing so. This culminates with drone operators becoming Changeling Queens and the drones becoming, well, drones.
- A much looser definition of 'bellyrubbing', with the infection transmitting through any sort of belly contact up to and including robotic arms
- A silly poneacalypse where packs of prancing ponies prowl depopulated parkways to pounce on pitiful people like pastel predators. deep breath

But yeah, it was sorta like that book, Machine of Death, where we took the base prompt and ran with it.

7141071 Hehehe, the true curse is the memetic spread of the idea.

:pinkiecrazy:

Loved the first chapter, For some reason my mind insists and making the title even cuter with "Belly Wubs" and it plays in my head with a high pitched voice.

One of the things that makes the show MLP great is that it leaves a lot of stuff open ended leaving a lot to imagination perfect for writing fan fictions. Now if this were a 100k novel, I would like to explore the origin but in this light, funny and cute story, open ended works.

By the way, I read a long time ago a fic here about a human being very affectionate with ponies giving ear scritches and stuff having them turn to butter but latter on the ponies had a meeting about him worried that he was not gregarious enough. One pony from Cloudsdale suggested giving him cuddles but the other ponies said that it was a felony ,unless from a pony they are dating, since it altered their brain chemistry.

Anyone know what this fic was called and have a link to it? I would like to revisit the story.

You just had to make a story of a pony pandemic produced primary petting pony paunch?

7143115 Positively preposterous to propagate a pony plague with a planetoid of penumbral persuasions!

7143115
7143469 I for one found it progressively prodigious personally!!! :pinkiecrazy:

I'm sure a shotgun shell to the belly would stop that itchy sensation real fast.

Might I say DICK move on this chapter, and making such a great story end so quickly. Well played. :moustache:

7143920 yeah. along with all the other sensations. :ajbemused:

if i were to describe this story in one word, i would be "cute." it was short but sweet had an interesting status-quo, characters and plot line, the comedy was also cute. i just wish there was more story to read.

As is, for that you get an 8.55/10 on the :yay:itude meter! i wonder what the future will hold for them?

Heh, That was over quicker than expected. Cute though.

7145976 Yeah, to try and make up for it, I wrote an extra 1200 words or so in my 'other' story today

So much potential, only to be over in 3 chapters :fluttercry:

7146329 Sorry :pinkiesad2: But yeah, it wasn't meant to be a big long story, just something short, fun and quick to read and giggle at. :derpytongue2:

That ended much quicker than I'd expected. Well thanks for the cute. It was short but fun ride. :twilightblush:

7146329
I got u covered. Working on it right now

7146831 You are working on more of this? Make a reply when you have it started and I will link it

This was cute an adorable. I wonder do all of the human end up TG?

7148215 I doubt it, I just like the idea.

This was a fun little story series!

If you ever go back to it, I'd love to know a little bit more about how it all began and where it's all going.

Short, sweet, and silly, but a fun read.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

7169977 Thanks for the assist

Damn those gender-swapped pronouns. When I had Twilight gender-bent in another of my stories, keeping her pronouns the right way around was a constant battle. :twilightoops:

This is one of the most genuinely adorable stories I've read in a while. Bravo, bravo indeed.
