Thanks for the comment. Yeah, that was a silly little twist, but there you go. Happy to see you enjoyed it. :scootangel:

I feel like I'm missing a reference to something. Still, a quite enjoyable read. Great portrayal of the Cloudsdale marketplace, and I love how Fluttershy views haggling as some strange, mystical gift.

Just one thing:

Fluttershy coughed nervously, more out of habit than any practicality as a trombone-player would have been drowned out.

I really have no idea what to make of this metaphor. I suppose you mean the background noise would've drowned out a musician?

:facehoof: Ah yes, that was a bit of structural inelegance there, wasn't it? Have patched it up to make it clearer. :twilightoops:

As for the rest of your comment: Nah, you're not missing anything. This was mainly an exercise in writing OCs, so presumably that "missing reference" feeling is just a side effect. Not sure if that's a good thing (because it suggests the characters are well-realized enough to stand on their own) or a bad thing (because it doesn't help if the reader thinks they're missing a crucial piece of the puzzle).

and I love how Fluttershy views haggling as some strange, mystical gift.

 I like to think that, a la Putting Your Hoof Down, Fluttershy regards any confident shopping tactic with awe and wonder. After all, the world of commerce is a strange and fantastical place... :derpyderp1:
