The historian Daydream Glare has written an essay on Gryphon kind and culture. Obviously, none of this is canon, and it borrows slight amounts from a few other fics. In general, most of this just head-canon that I wanted to write down. It ended up being almost 3000 words, so now it's posted here. If it's popular enough, I'll make an MST'd version where Princess Celestia, one or more of the Mane cast, and Daydream edit and leave foot-notes.

Oh my, I just love stuff like this! Taking an anthropological approach to a fictional race always grabs my attention, so the moment I saw the title I knew I would find this interesting. I find the way you describe their culture interesting, and I could totally see it happening. I hope you will be doing this for other races in the series as well  You seem to already have your own ideas how zebra culture works, so that's a possibility.

Zebra culture is far less developed in my head, but it is indeed a possibility. Daydream has some zebra ancestry on his mother's side, so he does have an interest in them as well. Just not as much.

You were right I did like this, but sadly I am not able to critic this pice... for I am tired right now maybe after some sleep, but I did want to inform you that I injoyed this look into the life of griffon kind.

It's good, but I think this would work as a study of gryphon anthropology, rather than modern gryphon kind.

Just wanted to say, thanks so much for this short fic. It's not only awesome, but your ideas about the three levels of griffon society, banishment and questing are pretty much the core of the Gilda fic I've been writing, Banishment Decree. Your shit is so cash that it now essentially has fanfiction of itself. I'd squee myself silly if you did the celestia MST or a similar thing for other cultures.

I thought that this would be a good read, so I put it on my list a while back. I finally built up the nerve to read this today. I must say: this is brilliant! :ajsmug:

I have one thing to ask though. I'm in the process of writing a fic of my own. Would you mind if I used this as the basis for how I form the society of my griffons? :pinkiehappy: I've been trying to find a way for their societies to work, and this is almost perfect to go along with my fic! :pinkiecrazy:

Go right ahead! Just credit me for the ideas.

I must say, this is one of the most interesting pieces I've stumbled across in my search through the #Gilda tag. It certainly wasn't what I had originally been looking for but I was pleasantly surprised!

I'm always glad to see something like this taken from an informative/anthropological perspective. It's especially refreshing when a piece also covers one of the less focused on species in the FiM universe. Griffons as a whole have interested me since Gilda appeared wayyy back in the dusty aegis of season 1 and though it's a bit late, this has served to renew that interest.

All of this is not to say that I haven't seen other takes on Griffon society but, as of yet, I have found this iteration the most agreeable.

As Bubbleshy did ask before and was thusly answered this would fit wonderfully in any number of ideas I had. Naturally created would be given, if and when, I decide to get myself in gear and actually act on any of those ideas.:twilightsheepish:

Anyways, TLDR: This is an interesting piece and I very much enjoyed reading it! The ideas were well thought out and I can easily see them being expanded upon if need be.

So cheers, Wild Heart! Thanks for the the time and effort.

An excellent work!

Excellent world building and some of the concepts are shockingly similar to some my headcanon.
