On a late-night hangout session, the five Crystal Prep Shadowbolts are having a good time until Sour Sweet begins acting strangely. When Sunny Flare discovers that someone has replaced her medication with sugar pills, Sour Sweet loses control of herself. This simple prank could cost someone their life.

When I saw the Sunset Shimmer tag, I thought for sure that you were referring to the Crystal Prep Sunset. You can imagine how dissapointed I was when it turned out I was wrong. Either way, if CP Sunset Shimmer really is responsible for this (and I'm only saying that because there is no hard evidence proving that it was her), than she needs to be taken down soon.
So just clear this up. Human Sunset Shimmer switched Sour Sweet's medicine and Sour Sweet tries to kill Pony Sunset Shimmer by accident

Yes, more or less. Sour Sweet has always had trouble mentally separating the two Sunset Shimmers. Once she went crazy, she just went after the one she knew she could find.

It's funny that most people in the comments (so far) seem to have forgotten that all evidence points to Cinch being the one pulling the strings whenever CPA Sunset comes in and messes with the girls. I mean, I'm for neutralizing Sunset as a threat and some revenge, but even if they chucked Sunset into a black hole, Cinch would still be the real problem and would just get a new lackey to harass them (and possibly get them arrested for killing a fellow student). She might even decide that Sunset wasn't nasty enough and then get somebody who's even worse. Man, I think I'd just transfer schools, at this point. I don't care how much funding CPA has, this isn't worth it. CHS is nicer, too. Just ask Fleur.
Also, did nobody else notice the thing with the other pill bottle Sunset left in the house with the real medication in it? The one that was literally labeled as sugar pills? Because I thought that was really weird.
I wonder if something will come of Sunny seeing Twilight as a little sister, but Twilight seeing Sunset as a big sister.
I hope the next installment isn't filler. I wanna see what happens.

I'm thinking Sugarcoat was right when she speculated that Sunset wasn't entirely okay with this plan. It would explain the real medicine still being there, and fit with canon Sunset's characterization as someone that turned out to be a wonderful person once she was given a reason to change. I'm guessing Cinch came up with the idea and pressured Sunset into it, but Sunset left the real pills in that other bottle because she knew that lines were being crossed.
You're definitely right about Cinch being the real problem. The only reason Sunset gets away with anything is because Cinch wants her bullying the main characters and doesn't seem to care about any other bullying as long as the student getting bullied is less likely to win prestige for the school than the one doing the bullying.
Still want to see Good!Sunset punch her counterpart in the face though. Like, a straight up right hook to the jaw.

That's what I was thinking when I was reading this, yeah.
Yeah, it occurred to me earlier that if anybody should go and whack human Sunset in the face with a boot, it's pony Sunset. I mean, the Shadowbolt girls have been dealing with her crap for a while, but it was all petty stuff or stuff that barely involved them. Pony Sunset is the one who almost died tonight, the poor girl.
Aww, hell. Now I'll have to write something dark myself (it's been a while since I did... unthinkable) and read the rest of Shadowbolts Adventures (given that it's the second one I read, I have a lot of catching up...)

6961460 I figured that out pretty easily. Considering the Shadow Five go out of their way to avoid CP Sunset, why would she know where she lived? There's also the fact Pony Sunset was not yelling or accusing of anything, which CO Sunset would.

So, I'm just starting to read your Shadowbolts Adventures series, excellent work by the way, and I haven't read all of them. You may have stated in the story and I missed it, but what condition does Sour suffer from? Is it any specific condition, or one you made off the top of your head?

I haven't named it and probably won't. The point of her condition isn't to talk about a specific illness, but rather just the idea of being mentally "different". Naming it would make the story about the condition rather than the overall concept of someone who doesn't fit in for reasons beyond their control.

I get that Cinch wants the Shadowbolts out of school because of them turning on her... but has she forgotten that the reason they were in the Friendship Games in the first place was because they were the top students? And how is messing with Sour like this supposed to get her expelled?
Poor Sunset. She was very close to dying. At this point, a good idea would be for Sunset to kill her human counterpart and run off to Equestria. I mean, sure, the Shadowbolts would end up the prime suspects, but Sunset could very easily orchestrate the whole thing so all evidence points to herself, and she'd be out of the picture once she's on the other side of the portal.
