Fan fiction. The final frontier.

Hearth's Warming Eve is one of the worst times of the year for Scootaloo. With a father who left years ago and rarely contacts her and a mother who pays her little attention, family togetherness is only a remote possibility. The only thing she has to look forward to is a gift and a smile from Rainbow Dash. When even this seems to have been taken from her, Scootaloo decides she's better off wandering the streets than staying at home feeling sorry for herself.
While meandering in a mostly empty Ponyville, Scootaloo comes across somepony whose even more alone than she is.

Very good sir. I was in the mood for something that would tug at my heart strings, and I found it. I hope that you continue to do work that is as amazing as this .

wow i love story's with scooterloo and changlings and this one has both and is very will written

A well written story that was very moving without being overly dark or too sappy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Keep up the good work and enjoy your like.

That was fairly nice. There wasn't too much of a bigger meaning to take away from it, nor any earth-shattering revelations, just two equines of different species who realise that while there are stark differences between them, there are many similarities as well. Of course, Scootaloo is also presented with a situation that's at the extreme of what she feels as her loneliness, and realises what she has isn't quite that bad (though still not the best).

I would have thought she'd consider Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom her family as well, though.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, fabulous story you got here. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this and enter it into the Poniverse Hearth's Warming Eve contest! Nothing terribly mind-blowing here, but for the story it wants to tell, this story covers everything it should and then some. The fact that it's not a perfect ending makes it all the more satisfying; it's not like every single problem in either character's life has been solved for good, far from it, but all the same, something truly special has happened, and that's far more satisfying than if everything wrong in their lives were fixed in one instance. Splendid, simply splendid. :scootangel:

Please......need.....more....:applecry:

This was a nice, touching story even though I'm not a big Scootaloo fan (least favorite crusader) it worked really as a christmas story without being excessively sappy or corny. It dragged somewhat in the middle but otherwise I enjoyed it fine.

Yay, holiday revisit of the fic! Also, and I don't want to be mean, scooaloo was at the royal wedding and saw changelings there (she was a flower filly)

7804252 I'd forgotten about that. It'd been ages since I'd seen the Canterlot Wedding episode back when I first wrote this. Glad you enjoyed the story anyway :yay:

7805087 it's a holiday, with a changeling, and Scootaloo. What's not to like?

this was a nice read, heres hoping scoots and peppermint will meet again in the future.

Please tell me there's a sequel in the works that takes place after the season 6 finale.

I hadn't initially planned on a sequel (because I wrote this a long time ago, back before the show did all that stuff with the Changelings) but I'm actually considering writing one now.

I hope you do one :)
