6715480 its politics pure and simple.. there is nothing more import for some than getting your way especially if the matter is important to you or the other matter is important to the other party,,
IE keeping Twilight in Ponyville is important to Celestia who sees more than the others, but a minor issue if not less to otehrs who apparently know what Celestia wants and are willing to use it for thier own ends

Yes, Celestia picked up on the fact that a giant dragon appeared & punched a hole in the tower roof + Twilight's Cutie Mark is on the Tree of Harmony (Princess Twilight, the end of part 2). It is this ability to spot the blindingly obvious that has made her what she is today.
