I know. I really intended Shooting Star's words to be just some comedic banter, and making sure that she wouldn't get in trouble for what she was planning for Moonstone and Missing Nail. But I knew exactly what other implications it could have.

That's why I added that line from Moonstone, so it was clear that she never slept with Starfire. And it was kinda more in character for him to ask that question. Basically Star had no reason to come on to him at that point, since she had the promotion in her pocket already.

But Shooting Star was shrewd enough to use some flirting tactics in order to throw the Colonel off his game, which is something he isn't very comfortable with. Sticking out her chest while leaning in on him was a deliberate move on her part to make him nervous.

Or maybe he just acts like a jerk to constantly challenge his subordinates and bring out the best in them. You have to wonder if Shooting Star would have made Major in such a record time without the added incentive of proving his words wrong.

That was a wonderful conclusion, and great to see them repair their relationship.

However, given how Shooting Star and Spitfire were talking both as equals and - unless my ears deceive me - friends, I couldn't help but picture this ending.

The door swings open. "Star, there was something I forgot to ask you about-" Spitfire stopped and stared.

Shooting Star, Missing Nail, and Moonstone all looked up guiltily. Both Missing Nail and Moonstone tensed, ready to try and leap to Star's defense, whether verbally or physically.

Spitfire smirked. "The two old friends you're always talking about?" Star nodded helplessly. "Then I'll ask tomorrow." Her eyes roved over the two stallions. "I see why you were so eager to rekindle the...friendship." She then turned and walked out. "Though you should remember to lock the door next time."

As the door shut, Star put her hand to her forehead and groaned, grumbling under her breath, before all three friends began to giggle helplessly at the absurdity.

Of course, now looking back, I see she locked the door at the start of the meeting.
