Sonya is a young college student, living a normal life with her parents and quirky elder brother. When her brother, Peter, develops an online game based around his strange obsession with equines, Sonya is thrust into a quest that, unfortunately, only she can fulfill. What started as a harmless game, quickly turns into a life-threatening nightmare. The only chance she has at stopping this horror is to confront the very man that started it; Peter.

I must have accidentally unfollowed you.

Also, this is pretty swish, let's keep it up.

Aye, let's.

Also, that unfollow may have been due to my inactivity, and the fact that my skype changed, and I didn't tell you.

Never heard of Sword Art Online.

Watch entire series currently on Netflix about 3 weeks to a month ago.

Suddenly finding stories, references of it, or things that sound similar to it EVERYWHERE!!!

Looking forward to getting into this story now, even if I'm completely wrong in my thought process.

You must readd me at once.

...Dude, this is like... My exact thought process going into this XD

I stayed away from SAO cuz I didn't think it would be good, but I got hooked. Follow your heart. :rainbowwild:

Good to be back. I feel like Goku after he stepped out of the hyperbolic time chamber. Pumped.

So, a Sword Art Online and MLP crossover? Sounds interesting, I've seen the first season of the Anime and I enjoyed it, I am curious to see how you will handle this.

I do like the twist you've made, instead of having a weird professor be the "villain" it's the main OC's brother. Makes it harder to predict the plot if you have seen the Anime as well as makes the conflict more problematic. Can't just go and bash in the villain's skull when he's your own family, right?

Now, main conflict aside, I am curious to see what will happen to the Mane 6. Will you actually have them in the story or not? You don't seem the use their character tags, so either you're writing a pure OC story or you'll add them later. Personally I would like to see the main cast, because it gives some sense of familiarity, especially for people who haven't seen SOA. Of course, assuming you have Twilight and her friends in the story, it raises another question. Will they be regular people or part of the system? I mean, considering how special they are and how close they are to the leaders of Equestria, especially Twilight, it is hard to believe they're ordinary players in reality. People can't achieve such special status in a game, not without some connections.

Anyway, enough speculating for now.

All legitimate concerns that I have answers to in my notebook. (Seriously fighting the urge to message them to you)
Just know, I have this story pretty covered. :raritywink:

I don't know why, but this story has just caught my eye.

This is an obvious rip-off of Sword Art Online. Nice.

SO SIMILAR

5310418
Not a rip-off, more of a retelling. I didn't think it necessary to point out that it was inspired by it. If you think I plan on retelling it as SAO did their story, then you're wrong there. Some elements may remain the same, but I'm not going to hash out a story that's already been written. That is boring.

5310425
I'm sorry :fluttershyouch:

I didn't mean to... I just... I got dem writing spasms, like a rash!

You know? :fluttercry:

EDIT: In my defense, however, I'm writing as if this were an individual story, not a side story. Similar, but each is unique!

EDIT EDIT:Unless you were talking about the original story, in which I can see more similarities. Again, in my defense, however, I'm not retelling SAO with ponies, or making my own story in its universe. I'm using its concept and making my own adventure.

Ok, now that I've actually had time to sit down and read it:

5310505 I was going to point this out as well. Just because ELO was written first doesn't mean this story is bad. In fact, I thought it was very good indeed.

This is in no way, shape or form a ripoff of ELO. More than one person can write an SAO crossover.

Although you are correct in the similarity aspect.

5310505
That's what I meant, ELO. From what I've read so far, ELO seems like almost a carbon copy of SAO.

5310515
Okay good. You were kinda making it sound like you were putting this story down because of the similarity. Glad to know I was wrong. :twilightsheepish:

Ohaidere, feature box
So this is what you've been up to...

5310520
Have you read the side fics?

5310520
Oh, it seems like it at first. But the reason for their incarceration is completely different than SAO. Just get through the first few chapters.

5310525
No, not yet. I just found the main one.

5310533
If it's not there, then it happened for a brief moment. I don't mind.

5310528
Aye, I didn't say I was going to stop. It seems interesting, anyway. I just loved the idea of virtual reality, and when SAO came out, I was literally hyped, but didn't watch it until just recently XD

5310549
SAO is still one of the best TV shows (yes, not just anime) that I have ever seen. I wish you luck with your story! But now I must retire, for the hour is late. Arrivederci!

5310564
With Mature on. No wonder I didn't see it :rainbowwild:

5310571
I never have mature on. I prefer to only see real stories in the box (ie not gratuitous second person clop).
edit: yes that is a very opinionated statement, but it's true at least half of the time anyway.

5310578
Nah, I get ya. I completely understand. Too bad my hands don't...

Please tell me that it is the SAO that should have been...not all that Mary Sue luvy-duby crap that ruined it :twilightangry2:

If so, I'll give it a chance -- thx

As someone who's written a story with at least a similar premise, (though mine is an actual SAO crossover) I am obligated to follow this story and see how it goes. :pinkiehappy: I'm liking what you've done so far. The relationship between the brother and sister is quirky and warming, yet you can see that there are problems lying underneath. I look forward to seeing what Peter's motivation is, and how Sonya's adventure plays out.

Also, I've read ELO... it's not the worst SAO crossover I've ever read, (that honor belongs to just about every other one) but it is steeped in cliche, though it does some things interestingly. I really couldn't bring myself to read it past the seventh or so chapter, though. It just couldn't hold my interest and kept introducing tons of reader-submitted OCs all the dang time, killing my attempts to care about each new one.

I just wish my Equestria's Strife Online had half the popularity of it... though I'm quite happy to have readers as absolutely rabid for updates as 5309773 has been. :derpytongue2: By the way, I've Chapter 9 done, and am a good way into Chapter 10 now, but I promised I wouldn't update any of my stories until I had one chapter ready to go for every one of my ongoing stories. :pinkiecrazy:

5310700 SAO had it's good qualities, despite the... OP-ness of Kirito. Most of the problems of SAO are pretty easy to circumvent, really. Shunketsu, in my opinion, has already shown that he's on the track to avoiding many of those problems.

However, if you want the genuine MMO anime experience, delivered absolutely perfectly, I recommend you look up and watch Log Horizon, if you haven't seen it yet. It is the definitive example of its kind, and does what SAO should have from the start. Hell, I've been taking a lot of inspiration from it.

5310750 Sweet! Thx for the feedback! I truly did try to enjoy SAO as much as possible, and there were some very awesome jawdropping moments. But other than that, I just sorta rode along the episodes, and wished it didn't end up like it did :twilightoops:

AND ITS MUSIC IS AMAZING!!! *ahem* anyways, back to the story not SAO :twilightblush:

5310775 Yeah, no problem. :pinkiehappy: We are of the same mind, seeing the problems with SAO, but enjoying it anyway. I really hope you enjoy Log Horizon if you check it out.

But yeah, I can really see the strong influence of SAO in how this has all started, but there's so much of the author's own touch to it that it really helps it feel fresher. I can't wait to see what happens next, since it's obvious that this virtual Equestria is far more real and self-evolving than Peter ever thought it would be at first.

You've remind me to work on my story soon.

So nice, I hope to see more soon

5310700
5310740
Yeah, Kirito really bothered me when I first started watching it, but I got over it because of all the colorful side characters.

With this, I do plan on taking it elsewhere, and while I enjoyed the Luvy-duvy of SAO, I won't have it as pertinent in my story.

I thank you both for the amazing support, and as a fellow SAO fan, yeah! I can't wait to continue this story!
