Spike and Rarity have had a wonderful life together, full of adventure and romance and the truest of friendships. But all good things must come to an end, and for an immortal being like the big purple dragon, moving on seems like an impossible task.

With the fond memories of his life and romance with Rarity still in his head, and the certainty that she won't be the last to leave him, Spike has to face the most difficult challenge anyone who has ever been in love ever could.

Saying goodbye.

Written because I was challenged to make my fiancee cry over Sparity. I won. Read the brazen tearjerking attempt at your own risk.

Fiance!? Congratulations.

5224707 Thanks. The wedding won't be for a while. Can't live together until I graduate. :/

The emotions are there, there just isn't enough character to give them the appropriate weight.

Lovely and heart wrenching. Now I need to find a tissue to dry my eyes. Well done.

Yep, A tear jerker, You inglorious B-sterd :raritydespair::moustache::facehoof: 110% killer.

5224718 I think I have to agree with you. The flashbacks are meant to do this, but they're not quite enough. I'm relying a lot on the reader's knowledge of the show and its characters to inform them.

Not a single tear.
I am a heartless bitch.
But now I need to repair my feels meter.
So, Good sir.
Fuck you, I just fixed my feels meter.
Then you come and fucking wreck it.

5224859 Mission A-fucking-complished.

5224989 You sir, are a A class dick. I take my top hat off to you.
Wait no, I dont.
Well now I've gotten that out of my system, this was a really great story. I didn't cry, but I almost did. Almost. This story poured gasoline on my feels, set them on fire, pissed on it and beat the living shit out of it. Pretty much:
Good job.

This made my eyes and my penis cry, good job!

"Your beauty will never fade, for it stays alive forever in my memories of you..." Nice, man, very nice...

I want to cry at this but....I'm in public.

This story needs some sort of sequel where Rarity and Spike meet again in the 'afterlife'.

5232416 Life doesn't work that way. By that, I'm not talking about the possibility of life after death, but either way, we certainly won't know about it for sure until we get there. Likewise, you, the reader, can only have hope.

Not a bad thing to have.

Written because I was challenged to make my fiancee cry over Sparity.

Thanks for rubbing it in that you can manipulate my feels on a whim! :raritycry:

So many feels :fluttershbad:

You should have your fiancee challenge you to write a story to help us her recover from this one.

Oh man, my heart. :moustache::raritywink:

I started crying almost immediately in the story v.v

i havent even started :raritydespair:

This makes me so very happy that I assume that Rarity Ascends ... because, otherwise, something like this would be inevitable.

This was written weeks before Meghan McCarthy pretty much destroyed any idea of this kind of thing happening ever.

Actually, she said that Twilight wouldn't outlive the other five. There are several ways to take that, one being that Twilight isn't immortal; another being that they will all die together by violence, and the third being that they will all become immortal Alicorns.

Must... not... cry... :fluttercry:

You bastard... just... take my fave. This was so beautiful. :fluttershysad:

Brilliant, amazing, heartbreaking, happy, Just so many things incredible about this story, Just take my favorite and hand me a tissue, I'm crying too hard.

I can tell I am a horrid person because I didn't even get misty at this beautiful and touching story.

Congrats dude you made even 999 feel slighlty depressed.

Sadness.........the feels!!!!!!:raritycry::raritydespair::fluttercry:

The feels!! :fluttercry:
Gotta always remember to appreciate time together with lived ones....nothing lasts forever.

No story has made me cry. We shall see if you succeed.

Damn it, nothing. I had high hopes for you.... Good story though, I enjoyed it greatly. Maybe I should go read Project Horizons. I've heard it's extremely depressing.

Excellent work! Have you considered expanding on the hints of interim story you dropped there, or is that tied into some of your other stories, perhaps?

7122506 Not really. I wanted to leave it up to the imaginations of readers so as not to distract too much from the ending they were leading up to.

7122865

Fair enough. It's a masterwork as is, so take more applauding plaudits.

HA! I didn't cry! Take that!

By the time Luna had risen the moon,

A subtle error, but "rise" is not an object verb. The verb you intended was "raise" the past and past perfect form of which is "raised".

I must say the scene with Twilight felt like it was less somber than it wanted to be. I'm having trouble nailing down exactly why. I think because there was more telling than showing in that scene, but it's hard to say.

The final scene nearly broke me however. Richly poignant. Well done.

I am rather disappointed by the lack of use of the cover photo. It's very misleading.

Also, I notice that this story is three years old. Has "Fiance" been upgraded to "wife" yet?

Yep! Our second anniversary is approaching.
