Thanks to the absence of Alicorn magic for that one quick moment, the king of crystalline shadow, Sombra, had managed to resurrect himself from the grave of the icy north...and now, He is seeking revenge on those who stood against him on that faithful day.

Mm, Sombra's a bit OOC. In the show he doesn't talk much, because he doesn't care about leaving an impression on his enemies - he cares about killing them. Most of his lines are short because those lines are him grumbling to himself. Most people don't grumble to themselves coherently either.
Plus the whole 'regular unicorn mind trapped in icy solitude for one thousand years' thing.
So yeah, Sombra's a lot more verbose and less focused than in the show, and more merciful. He would just outright impale Luna with crrryyystallls.

here is a bit of a history lesson. a thousand years ago, the regal sisters were young and in conflict the love for the day outshone the night, and gradually both celestia and luna grew apart, jealousy filling luna and celestia consumed by her duties. when sombra came forth the had no access to the elements because of this bond.
thus they were forced to BEAT THE FUCK OUTTA HIS FACE to defeat him, and that they did.......... when they were pretty much the alicorn e equivalent of middling teenagers. however his tricks allowed him to banish the crystal empire before his defeat, and they imprisoned im in ice for a thousand years.
in other words sombra is an enemy of the regal sisters who defeat they defeated with their own power. in other words, they are more powerful than sombra. and likely, after a thousand years, they would be individually more powerful than him.

so yes, there was a schism between them when the villainous sombra reared his head, and promptly was defeated by them. cause it is pretty clear they could not have used the elements. heck the little flashback seems to hint that they had blasted sombra with their own might.
besides if the elemetns can contain discord or nightmare moon, sombra would have been decimated by their power.
