Vinyl Scratch and Lyra Heartstrings are vampires, creatures of the night whose civilization has lived in humanity's shadow for thousands of years. What's this? A Vampire OctaScratch story where BOTH of them are vampires? Not one or the other? Not with one of them trying to hide it and the author tries to be witty by going against expectations and not having the unconverted one turned in the end? (Not that I mind those stories, it's just that every author I've read gets it in their head to play it that way it seems, and I've been dying to see a fic that actually converts one of them, likely Octavia since she's usually the normal one.)

Trust me. I've been wanting one where they are both Vampires ever since My Roommate is a Vampire (first one I read). To finally see one is... amazing. Just the downside that it's heavily insinuated that vampires are, by definition, dead in this story :/ Something I don't like. I by far prefer the Roommate idea that they are alive, but are still different.

I dunno, from what I'm seeing, it seems that they're pretty alive. Vinyl WAS eating greasy human food in the Diner, so that tells you that they can eat normally, and I'm pretty sure she was being sarcastic when she said that her head was chopped off, if that's what you're referring to.
The thing that sucks is that this is only a set-up chapter to establish the scene, so we don't know much yet. I suspect we'll be seeing more of how these particular vampires work soon, what with Octavia turning.
Speaking of Octavia, I find it amusing that it seems to be implied that she is... or maybe now it would be was, a police officer, as opposed to a simple Cellist.

I would imagine that would be the case. Vinyl was enjoying normal food earlier, rather than eating to keep up appearances, so I'd bet it's something like that.
Ah well, things will be revealed in time, hopefully sooner than later; Terrasora does have a good 3-5 ongoing stories last I checked, and I'm not sure how they decide which story to update.
