Equestria is dead. Using massive weapons of utter destruction, the Caribou have killed all but a handful of ponies, including Princess Twilight. But leaving the Princess of Magic alive was folly. After all, love conquers all. Even death.

Well what will you do now Empress?
What spelling you going to use?
"known"
5124904 Thaaaaaat's what I'm wondering right now.
Or, by way of my own reaction to this:
Crapcrapcrapcrap!!!
Oh Please please please don't let Twilight be corrupted now. Don't change the story direction when it was going so well.
Please don't.
5096926
So called it. Poor Spike.
5125206 Honestly I bet you that if this does change direction here and now all the upvotes will skyrocket down to the point the mods will take the story down.
5125414 I... can assure you it won't be changing direction to that degree.
This is going to be a nasty mess if Twilight is as necessary as a linchpin to the wheels of this scheme.
you need to learn to take criticism
5125463 I take criticism fine. I just don't like flamers. Have a nice day.
5125453 Oh, I know. It was more an attempt on my part to add a little humor to the scenes.
The odds are INCREDIBLY low, I know, but like a few readers have commented "Stranger things have happened in war!"
Plot thickens in two ways at once! Good!
I approve the Sweetieloo and RD/Spitfire/Fleetfoot ships! It never fails, just when things are looking up... So that's his plan! Poor Spike!
I like the progression going on. And to those talking about Twilight not being corrupted... she's already corrupted herself, no need for dark magic to do that.
5125419 No the problem I have with this is that if this development that has been given no explanation causes a large upset with no backstory it's gonna cause huge bloody problems because the fact then you're falling into the same bloody trap you're tearing apart and that would mean you've failed your story.
o yeah Spike the god dragon is back
My reaction to this chapter:
1. Twilight becoming corrupt with evil intent is making me worry. I seriously hope that the other alicorns make her realize what absorbing the dark magic from those bombs is doing to her. If not, then I will NOT be happy with Twilight turning into an evil empress bent on slavery and subjugation.
2. Spike or Ash'ei making his appearance on the battlefield just brought this up to a whole new level. However, judging by how you worded his thoughts, it sounds like Ash'ei and Spike are two separate entities sharing the same body. So it makes me wonder just how this Ash'ei came about. I suppose we'll find out in the next chapter or so.
Ultimately, it will come down to a very hard decision for Twilight. Either continue on her destructive, power rampage and make everything worse than it already is; or do the right and just thing by disposing of the bombs, while resisting the influence of the black magic she's absorbing, and get rid of Ash'ei somehow.

This chapter answers the last few questions I had. Such as "Where is Spike?"
However, one point that's going to niggle at me. Alllllll the way at the bottom:
That should be "known", instead of "none".
5127405 My bad!
Oh holy beast core I called it on the pocession there. well things have gotten worse I just hope twilight and the others can get spike to fight back and distract ash'ei so they can exocize that thing I think rarity has spent the whole war reevaluating spike and his actions since they met and will fight to free him. But I just have to say this. Bonds are never truly broken and it is those same bonds that can create a miracle.
Ash'ei made a huge mistake in revealing spike's body. He snapped twilight back to her senses from the corruption and now the being is going to find out the hard way. Never mess with a mother and put her kid in danger.
You did say that about that relationship of spike and twilight with the hatch comment.
There's one very, very big flaw with this chapter: Unless this Ash'ei who has corrupted Spike can see into the future, there's no way he could've known that Twilight would (or even could) diffuse the bombs by draining them of magic.
He could have known of the Crystal Heart by looking through Spike's memories, sure. That would be possible. But you made it perfectly clear that this spell that disarms these bombs was one she had come up with during her imprisonment, a time where she had no contact with Spike. So, tell me, how can he possibly know that she would do that? That she could do it, or even had found a way to cancel out these bombs?
A recurring problem with this story, I've noticed, is that you throw in stuff without really thinking it trough. You don't do much to tie everything together which results in a lot of plotholes, this one being just one of them. There's literally no conceivable way that this Ash-ei could know that she would use this particular spell which she is only only one in existence who knows.
5132281 I saw it as a simple Xanatos Gambit - if she defuses them, fine, if not, then the pony force is gone.
Of course, it was kind of implied earlier that the Ash'ei could see into the future, what with the High Priest's comments about the Ash'ei knowing the capital would be destroyed.
Felgam Now why does that remind me of Fegelein
6552783 FEGELEIN! FEGELEIN! FEGELEIN!!!! Oh man, you have no IDEA how happy I am to see someone else who knows what that means!
