And here goes another one.

And that's how Big Macintosh nearly caused a zombie apocalypse.

Seriously, though, a fantastic story from start to finish. The gloomy yet determined atmosphere, the magic gone horribly wrong, the magic gone horribly right, all masterfully done. A lot of questions are raised along with the bodies, and they're never put down. Still, answering them isn't the point. What is is a fascinating world and a fascinating exercise in spellcraft.

Thank you for this, and good luck in the judging. Not that you'll need it.

I want to make love to this story.

The atmosphere for this story is done masterfully. I'd jump at the chance to read a continuation of this, which is a sure sign of this story's quality.

Definitely the best entry I've read thus far. Good luck in the contest!

How does this only have four (now five!) comments? This was incredible. Everyone should read this.

Brilliance. You can consider this my concession to winning the contest, because I'm crying foul if you don't.

This is quite solid. Dark, but it works.

It's all fun and games until someone accidentally raises an army of the living dead.

It does say something when the silly parody I spent maybe a few evenings really working on is STILL the most viewed of my stories!

Interesting story concept. Like so many of these, the central question I walk away with is 'What's the backstory?' because it makes me curious.

On one hand, there isn't an awful lot here, and I can't shake the impression that the HiE aspect is somewhat diminished by not using a generally recognisable Equestria, but then, I can also appreciate the smarts behind doing exactly that to manage a questionable prompt effectively, so it balances out.

In the end, it genuinely held my attention and managed to weave an air of mystery into the proceedings without doing anything so set off any of my editor's alarms. In the grand scale of of things, that's a passable read in my book, and there are at least two finalists I would place this ahead of. Crying shame you didn't make the cut.

Brilliant! This was an inspiring tale.

Hey, I wrote a review for this story. If you are interested, it can be found here.

All in all, it is a decent enough story, if not very pony. In a way, it reminds me of I Am Legend.

“Fuck you!”

There’s stranger things to scream at King Sombra.

Before I read this, what is the Gore and Dark tag for ?
And how bad does it get ?

A long time since the author's been here, but in case it's of interest to any other (potential?) readers I reviewed this recently and was rather impressed.
