The home town of Princess Mi Amore Cadenza is under siege. The royal family has been slaughtered, leaving only Cadence alive thanks to her being in Canterlot. The streets are swarming with soldiers, rounding up any survivors, and striking down any left-over soldiers or rebellious people.

Five rookies, almost fresh out of military school, are tasked with keeping an eye on the city until Princess Luna and her night guard arrive to take care of the siege.

But a lust for vengeance, and youthful impatience causes those plans to get washed down the drain. Shining Armor charges towards the gates, intent on avenging his love's family. The others follow, and are met with five of the officers of the enemy.

This is the story of Crystal's fight against one of them, and how she came to be known as "The Wendigo."
