Equestria's magic is gone.

Without magic, equine society collapses.

Without magic, nothing grows.

Without magic, ponies can't even stand up on their own.

Equestria's only hope for survival lies in the mysterious ape-like creatures that arrived when the magic left.

Unable to communicate or take care of itself, the pony population finds itself reduced to livestock to a race that knows nothing about them.

As humankind tries to find out where these creatures come from and why they are here, one pony is just trying to come to terms with his new status, while his 'owners' learn how to take care of him.

Wow, this is interesting. Favoriting this :pinkiehappy:

I find the proposition of this synapses terrifying. Keep writing, you're gonna go far.

............really not feeling this story at all. how would the magic just be gone? besides even if the magic in the environment is gone ponies produce their own energy. as Twilight said, magic is an inner power.

also really hating the human owning pony thing. rather uncomfortable, and its not like they could not see that the onies are sapient.

unable to comminucate? seriously? even if they do not produce a language humans can understand as language, they can still write. pretty sure if a pony picks up a pin in his mouth and writes, it becomes pretty clear they are intelligent.

I've found the human/pony crossover story I've been looking for- and with a not-Twilight-Sparkle choice of main character to boot. Don't get me wrong, I love Twily, but this will be a great change of pace.

Favorited for sure.

also wouldn't the humans starve to death too as they cannot grow anything either? the world is one of magic, so the humans would not be able to worki a dead world. and if they could using mundane methods, well, there is no reason the ponies could not either.

or wouldn't the everfree overwhelm the world because it will fill in the void of magic?

this story is not very well thoguht out i think. if the world is without magic and nothing os growing, that means the humans would be no better able to grow stuff. if mundane methods are working then the ponies could have siply adopted those methods. there is no point in this scenario where either the humans would be doing better or the ponies be helpless.

JBL

So it's something like a reversed Your Human and You?

Poor things. I'd have them not be totally helpless as you won't have much of a story from that. Perhaps they get back some of their skills over time but not enough to live fully independently?

Good start. Might have gone with how long he was in captivity. Then do the equestria parts in flashbacks.

how did he get captured? did the "happening" only affect ponies? Those Only in canterlot? (Yes I read that part about the contenent) are they on earth, or a original planet of your making? what's the tech level of the humans?

Without them talking to each other, is there a barrier to communication?

I'm looking forward to the rest of this.

4260050 From what I think I picked up, the entire continent of Equestria got teleported to our Earth where there is no magic.
Also the Everfree is like a piece of our world where they cant control the weather.
I don't know about the whole not growing thing so I wish that could get cleared up.

4260516 ti still does not change that the power of the ponies is within and not without; their produce their own magic and energy basically rather than relying on manipulating and controlling the energy of their surroundings.
it also would not change that the ponies would have behavior far different from that an an actual animal. all it would take is a pony writing and people would realize something is very off with these creatures. and it would only take someone smart enough to realize that the writing in question is in fact actual text. you would think the first thing the ponies would do would be to attempt to communicate.

and the everfree is not our world in equestrian. true it is magic that allows the world to function, but it is not our world in any stretch of imagination. it produces beasts of wood and stone, plants with a sense of humor, and it seems to also be an eldritch abomination considering what holds it at bay.

4260578 to answer your part one: this is a story and thats implied that they would even think of that, and that also means that in THIS story they need magic from world around them.

for part two:
>Also the Everfree is like a piece of our world where they cant control the weather.
>Everfree is like a piece of our world
>like
>weather

4260623 i never noticed the scrap wood from my back yard turning into wolves this year is all i am saying. put simply if the normal magic was removed the everfree magic would take its place.

also it is common sense to try and communicate. otherwise it is implying that ponies are too stupid to attempt communication. even if their language only sounded like animal noises i am pretty sure that when one of the ponies picked up a stick and began scribbling what looks like actual runes and letters into the dirt, someone would realize they were actually itnelligent beings.

also the ponies are not so helpless that they are incapable of manipulating tools. just look at the earth ponies.

4260642 Everfree has magic in it, magic just vanished because they are in a new world, Everfree is now a normal forest. Magic, the superficial element that keeps ponies alive is now gone mostly and can now barley even stand let alone use tools, this is all very sudden and its not like its been years, when ponies get scared their instincts kick in (forgot why I added this but its here), this is a story and NOT your head canon.

4260704 ther everfree forest being alternate magic is not headcanon, it is outright canon.

not to mention that there are dozens of species in equestrian that do not rely on magic to begin with. what about them? could they not tell the humans about them? heck what about minotarus? if there is any species that would retain human speech it would be the half human ones. gryphons perhaps?

also it would require magic for equestrian to be suddenly transported into another world, so how could that be possible if that world has no magic? makes sense in equestria girls as the mirror acted as a portal an bridge and did not drag a continent into another dimension.

4260796 cartoon. magic. fanfic. stop trying to make sence of it. canon doesnt apply to fanfics. stop.

4260811 what does sleeping have to do with this?

4260814 closest thing to exhaustion there is in the emotes.

This. I will follow this.

Why the scrap can't I be inspired by something bright and happy? I honestly wouldn't mind writing some little friendshipping between Sweetie Bell and Button Mash, but nooooooo. I have to find a story like this and practically have an entire story pop into my head.

Fav'ed, and keep up the good work. Nice work ya did, you're gonna go far kid.

4260814
Don't worry, this guy lives to piss people off. I've seen him demoting several fics, including one of mine.

I cannot wait to see how this turns out! The other pony slave fics I've read are pretty dark and depressing but this one might be different. I will follow this eagerly.

I will like it better if the main character was someone else not shinning

Interesting.. Will follow, for now.

I would love to see this continue.

Huh, a reverse 'Your Human and You' fic?

This is relevant to my interests

Heven help those poor ponies who were bought as an 'exotic delicacy'

......yep it got even worse now........... seriously, they have language, they have writing. it is contrived they would not attempt either.
and i now want huma nextinction for that act of cannbialims........ great you want me to kill off my own kind here........... this story is quickly going from flawed to bad.

Note to self: this may get interesting.

4496607 Why are you still trying to make sense OF A GAWD DAMN FACFIC. Who cares if its wrong? NO ONE BUT YOU!

4496607 cannibalism? Who said anything about cannibalism? There's a few points where Shining's being paranoid and imagining being eaten, but that's it.

Did you even read the story?

If you're going to complain (which I don't mind), at least complain about what's actually written so I can improve myself.

4498980 exotic delicacy...... they are cannibals and this story is contrived because the ponies could easily hsow they are sapient beings. they have writing. even if weak they can dig some of their runes into the dirt and humans would figure out, 'holy shit these creatures are sapient they even have language.' even if they cannot read the runes and lettering, a human would realize it is a language of some form and if they have language, they have to be at least as intelligent as humans.

also the hwole magic lost thing because they went to the human world is iffy. as twilight once said, and has been shown before, magic is an internal force, somethign they produce. it can be stoeln directly by beings like tirek, it can be burnt out, but it is something they produce.

This best example of this sort of storyline i have ever seen.
You can't keep both humans and ponies rational and sensible beings and not end up with a boring story; there's too much intellect or goodwill for a "Equestria on Earth" scenario to keep any reasonable drama without outside influence.

But crippling all of ponykind and otherwise creatures of equestria to the point they can't even communicate or walk, in such a way that they retain their minds? That miscommunication keeps the drama alive without any OOC behavior or external threats, allowing the story to be a relate-able character drama with an enticing background of world-building mysteries that won't steal the spotlight.

4499445

Cannibals eat their own kind, so a human eating a pony isn't cannibalism. Still horrifying but not cannibalism.
As for the magic thing, even if they produce it internally the lack of it outside their bodies could mean they lose it faster than they can use it for more than staying alive. Like body heat. Dropping someone into a bathtub of cold water is going to cool them down and keep their temp down until the water warms up. Warming the water up with just your body temp is difficult with no outside help.
I'm wondering about the other pony reactions and would like to see some.

6043948 why does everyone always bring that up? i know it means your own kind, however we lack a word that is about a taboo of eating fellow sapient beings, so cannibalism is the closest fit.

also, that is rather contrived reasoning for it. magic alters reality, so how could reality drain magic?

6043964
There's a reason I took body heat as an example. As far as I can see, the writer is using a definition of magic that says it's an energy rather than a natural law. If Earth had magic, Equestria wouldn't have lost it's own. Earth might gain magic if enough Equestians live and breed long enough.

I know this is your least popular story, but I still do not know why. After reading what you have written so far, I must say I really, really want to see another chapter, and I am quite sad that that's probably never going to happen. I want to see how this plays out, how they treat him, how he reacts, how long it takes to prove sapience, how they prove sapience etc.

I hope this story continues. It seems to have great potential, even after all those years of hiatus. :trixieshiftleft:

Feels like the aftermath of School Raze if Cozy Glow won in the end

The second was dark red with a yellow mane, and had a horn squarely in its forehead. It’s slightly sharper muzzle and hooves suggested this one was a male, though John wasn’t sure. Its brand depicted a small fire. It was also looking around at the surrounding crowd, but this one had a challenging look in its eyes. As if daring someone to claim it.

Is this Firebrand perchance? The description sounds like it's Firebrand...

don't know what happened to my last comment but I deleted the one that wasn't relevant and just pm'd the author instead... Good story premise so much to explore and fan/flush out (expand on) in future chapters. I'm willing to bounce idea's off of and even help the world-building good start for soft world building but if you want to go into hard world-building I'm open to help (never mind found it after I refreshed the page deleted that one too...:pinkiecrazy:
