I'd expect Celestia to arrive near the end of the story, when some way to.. deal with, the inflicted comes about. Thought I have a feeling there is plenty of tragedy left for Twilight to deal with. Here's hoping Celestia's rescue comes on time and she doesn't end up simply "recovering" the body of her prized student.
"She tried not to think about it...tried not to imagine the gleam that the knives, spears, and swords gave off in the sun."
Huh, this is interesting. So whatever this infection is not only does it drive them to brutally attack anything not-infected but it allows them to create and use weapons; definitely getting Star Wars Deathtroopers vibes here. One has to wonder how long it'll be before the infected learn how to create battering rams or something that'll let them take down the barricaded doors.
I'll also say its safe to assume that there aren't any infected pegasi since they could've just flown away from any ground based infected.
390966 Aaaaand now my hyperactive imagination has cause the story to be thus "Virus wipes out everything so Generation 4 can arrive." Or something like that. X3
Hm, quite fascinating. This looks like a really good horror story, though I still have to wonder...WHERE THE HAY IS CELESTIA?!?! If I were in Spike's shoes, I'd have sent a letter to her by now. I can see where '28 days later' fits in, but I'm a little concerned about the "infection" spreading (that being how fast it may be spreading ). So far, the story is far better than '28 days later' (I despise that movie ), now onward to the next chapter! Oh FYI, the second image on this chapter is broken.
2124676 I agree with you there, the speed of infection, increased aggression and Bloodied eyes all indicate an infection similar to the rage virus
Bad news: Fast, intellegent zombies that can use weapons and tend to roam in small "hunter packs"... also carriers are a possibility Good news: eventually they will all starve to death (28 days to be exact)
just now I realised that I have more brain space allocated to zombies than anything else... and thats just kinda sad
Twilight Sparkle...would never, ever, EVER...forgot those eyes...those beautiful...beautiful...glowing red eyes, and the fear...that tore at her heart.
pretty much people give into there most disturbing dark thoughts. Strangling that screaming child two seats over. Gutting and rapping that talkative bitch on the other side of the caffe. People go mad and the thing that defines them is the red cross that appears on the person face like a rash or a zit but the combined and covers the face in a menacing and disturbing cross
So do these things feed or will they starve? Also they seem to use tools so it must be like the rage virus or green flu from left 4 dead.
Also how come apples are the only safe source fo food? The virus is not airborned so theres no logic as to why other food would be infected as long as it hasnt been exposed to the virus.
The zombies in 28 Days later ate when they needed to, otherwise beating the hell out of their prey. The maximum for any human would be four days without water and food. The 28 days would be from getting so little food because everyone was either infected or completely hidden, the tiny morsels doing enough damage overtime to kill. Adrenaline would only keep you alive 7 days tops, and all a rage zombie is is someone on constant adrenaline.
Nice story, great concept..one question though:why didn't Twilight used her magic to stop or contain the infected ponies?I know all were scared but Twilight is more composed and smarter than that.At least, bring an explanation as to why she didn't use the magic, don't let it hang in the air

Excellent work, keep it up.
Great. Celestia has created the smart t-virus and Resident evil one is happening.
Hm.
I can imagine a few possible scenarios for the story, and I think I can explain a few things too but there is something I don't understand.
Why those 'zombies' affraid of dark? Why the dark?
This concept... Affraid of dark instead of light... This makes the story special.
Instant track and like!
So, how did Gen 1 names get into the story?

It's an April Fools thing I think, just got to wait for it to be over

390966 Ah. Thank goodness for this event only being temporary. Heavy will no longer freak out now :3c
28 days later type story. Keep going
Holy Celestia...it's all gone wrong
Maybe Celestia is one of "them" as well
>>samd
you sir have a terrifying imagination...if Princess Celestia has turned into one of those things...oh dear. my mind cant cope with the possibilities
475754 tank-witch-magic-infused-bone-charger? RIDE 'EM, HORSIE!
The picture of the eyes leads to a 404.
Also an interesting story, thus far.
I wouldn't be so sure. All it'd take is one pegasus to be caught off guard. And Ponies aren't the most attentive of creatures.

The afflicted use weapons? I don't remember that being mentioned in part 2

390585 I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING, BRO!

that would be the G virus my good sir
1405559 Seems more like the Rage Virus from "28 Days Later" to me.
