Jesus Christ! Viewtiful Joe!! HENSHIN!! A GO GO BABY!!! :rainbowdetermined2:

Thank you. Life for today has been made 20% more viewtiful.

So much nostalgia for this game, combined with my favorite pony!

'Stands up clapping' Bravo Good Sir, it is viewtiful.

Another old favorite, now on FimFiction.:yay:

Oh look. It's Beutiful Joe. *Gold clap* I approve.

A wonderful crossover indeed i'll be looking forward to the next part.

lol climax *12 year old laugh*

Thanks all.

Indeed! I was holding off until I was absolutely sure I wanted to revisit it--and now, here we are.

Part 2 is going to be kind of crazy, though! This was originally a proof of concept in terms of MLP crossovers for me and I'd thus made it a personal mandate to just have silly fun with it. We'll see if I stick with said mandate going forward--I just might!

Viewtiful Joe. Instant win.

386325 You have no idea how happy I am to hear this. <3 I enjoyed re-reading this baby today, and I was JUST thinking to myself, "I wonder if her posting it here, with that 1 of 2 tag intact, means she finally aims to continue it", and sure enough, it does. :D Can't wait to see the exciting conclusion. ^_^

They need that steroid pony face in the comment section so it can emphasize this comment:
YEAH!!!!! LOVING THIS SO MUCH!!!! VIEWTIFUL JOE AND RAINBOW DASH!!!!!! HENSHIN-A-GO-GO BABY!!!!!!

Awesome! :D Yeah, I picked this back up since I decided this (and the next P3) are absolutely what I need to cool down from Fireball!. And it means I finish off more dangling series to boot! I'll post more on the next DA Journal!

C'mon people, where's the love? I don't even show up in this chapter and nobody notices? I had better be in the next chapter!

Never played Viewtiful Joe, but I like the concept!

Man, I hate it when shows get cancelled on a cliffhanger.

I've played Viewtiful Joe 1—once, something like a decade ago. Started 2 immediately after it, but IIRC I was pretty burnt out on the formula by then and didn't get very far.

So I know enough to say that this hits the right notes, all the way down to the point-for-point transformation sequence, and also that translating something as fundamentally enamored with and centered around film editing as Viewtiful Joe into prose sounds maddening. :pinkiecrazy:

Archaeology tells me this originally went up in early 2011, had its second half in progress, eventually stalled out, got posted here when there were signs of life in the story again, and... I swear there was a blog post at some point where you formally flagged a bunch of things as cancelled and said why but I can't find it now, so /shrug. Fun as the idea is, I wonder if it lost momentum because it already hit most of the concept's low hanging fruits in the action-packed first act. Crossover team up from the word go, heroes on the outs, two different crossover powerups, one villain defeated... there's still some room to go bigger, but when it's already almost all action without much in the way of narrative or emotional beats to develop further, it does feel like it already hit the climax.

Maybe mixing it up and having a less action-oriented second half would've been the way to go, though? The best crossovers have the flavor of both source series, and a slower, FiM-style chapter to follow up the intense combat of the first half might've made for a good contrast. Y'know, as Joe and Sylvia power back up with the magic of friendship at the last minute to add some extra VFX pizzazz to the rainbow laser. :raritywink:

and inspire Rarity to create a whole toku-style fashion lineup
