Sombra has been enjoying his vacation with his family when he suddenly gets a strange visitor late in the night. He thought that he could enjoy his vacation in peace; fate and Luna had different plans.

4025146 Can't really say. I like the fanfics but I my self had seen only few episodes. I did like characterization thought. Upon reading the ending it does bring more to attention as to why Luna was so assertive. And we can also understand her motives.
As for Celestia. I think you managed to do her quite well. Obviously we haven't seen her angry often. But I would like to think that you managed to portray her quite well in her younger days when she was less experienced and considering recent betrayals of her sister and Sombra, whom she also seems to consider responsible for everything. At least at the beginning.

I had wanted to work on my main story, Arch of Shadows, a bit more before trying to make spin-offs and sequels, not to mention I figured I would just add stuff like that into this story after the winners were announced for the Everfree Competition.

Community judging closes on the 26th, so until then, I imagine a few folks are still reading this every now and again, and adding up another chapter would probably mess up the experience.

Long story short, a sequel of sorts going into more detail is planned, but it likely won't get up till at the earliest April.

Still liked it. Thought I have a question regardless the ending. Is she killing of Sombra's family?
Also if you making sequels. Can you make one with Crystal Heart episode from Sombras, Lunas and Celestias point of view?
Would be interesting to know how Sombra feels after a thousand years in cold icy prison,especialy if he knows Celestia killed of his family. And Luna and Celestia inacting plans on how to protect their image and to kill of last loose end.

I was going to include exactly what she is going to do, but then I decided that it would be much more fun to just leave it open ended.

And to be technical, Sombra would only have speculation to go on, similar to you all. I would love to elaborate on what happens to the family, but that would defeat the purpose of leaving the story so open ended.

Does she? Maybe. Maybe not.

4169598Can't argue there. The ending is left for each persons interpretations which is sometimes a good thing, depends really on how the reader feels.
My original thought is them being killed off, but after a bit of thinking there is a bit on how #it brings no good to anypony to defy godess', that there might be something else. So many possibilities.
Were they put into cryogenic like sleep to preserve them to keep Sombra quite or as act of mercy on Celestias part. Were their memories wiped. Perhaps they are where the Sparkle lineage comes from.
So many theories.

Well, I drop a variety of hints, especially the second chapter, as to what she would do, though the idea of putting them on ice would fit nicely with Sombra's banishment. xD

In this case, when I put the ending in "beta", it dawned on me that it would practically demand a sequel/expansion that would lead to a never-ending chain of expansions that would make this a full on story of sorts comparable to Arch of Shadows.

I didn't want that, so I just left the ending as it is now, for both impact and convenience.

The detail that Nightmare Moon = Luna is not entirely filtered to zee masses. I mean, in the canon, most of the ponies didn't even know who Nightmare Moon was, much less who Luna was.

And NM would do fine, if that hypothetical sit occurred. NM is an alicorn after all.

Technically the shield snapped the horn as it was going up. The horn then just fell in, but did not penetrate at all.

4169966 Still. Sombra did exhaust Cadance quite a bit with his advances. And she was an Alicorn while he was a Unicorn. So maybe a depowered NM would be less of the threat to the angry mother and wife.
