TundraStanza

The Poetic Frost makes mistakes so that you don't have to. "Dance, Sode no Shirayuki!"

T

The Great and Powerful Trixie has moved on to greater and more powerful venues. Her magic has become more impressive to the crowds. Unlike a certain time, however, she has not made the mistake of asking audience members to out-perform her. If Ponyville was any indicator, switching to a no-challenge performance was a smart decision.

In light of her more recent success, however, Trixie has faced slightly more difficult obstacles. The owners of less great establishments refused her business even though her great and powerful five bits were worth a hundred of any pony else’s bits. The Stubborn and Reluctant Trixie accepted the fact that she needed more funds. But where would she get the money?

Well, Trixie does have that law experience, thought Trixie, But prosecutors don't get very well paid when they simply do it for revenge.

The Great and Powerful Trixie decided to try her hooves at defending the less powerful and more helpless foals. After all, if that loser Phoenix Wrong could do it, why couldn't the much better and more talented Trixie?

I was hoping to churn out something before this week got busy, but the thought of trying to "fix" this idea wouldn't leave me alone. So after a few nights of typing thoughts down and slow edits, I thought, Eh, what the heck? I'm going to go for it.

Have something more for your "Read Later" list if you want it.

Trixie may experience kindness; from her own self, perhaps?
Fight on, Trixie~
You'll need to just as much.:derpytongue2:
Evidently, this terrible fate will be averted.

Awaiting further releases.:fluttershysad:

This is interesting and I will follow it. I hope that you've prepared the lengthy and convoluted process of this trial so you don't end it too quickly or paint yourself into a corner.

I'm hoping Sonata is being an Edgeworth kind of prosecutor, rather than the jerk kind who just wants to win for personal glory. The games establish that Wright needs to trust fully in his defendant's innocence, while Edgeworth believes fully in their guilt, as opposed to the more corrupt characters of the series. Given Sonata's eye-opener in Turnabout Storm, I wouldn't put it past her to be serious about her position... ribbing and bickering with Trixie nonwithstanding, naturally. That's par for the course.

So Sonata read Trixie's thoughts? Is she taking fourth wall breaking lessons from Pinkie Pie?

4067817 , Well, there was that one time where Sonata knew that Pinkie Pie was thinking about ladders...

4067894 Granted, Phoenix did say he could have gotten that himself.

Nice start-off case. Maybe resolved a little too quickly, but as a tutorial case, not bad. Trixie was clever and not too much of a jerk, at least not unnecessarily so. Sonata's graceful acceptance was good, makes me hopeful for her characterization in the future.

And I see no problems with Righty paying her debt with some labor. Trixie did save her from a guilty verdict, after all. (Is banishment to the sun still canon punishment here?)

I believe that this line
Though, I wonder why she jumped shift to the defense.”

Should be

Though, I wonder why she jumped ship to the defense.”

But really good story so far!

I laughed at that Zero Wing reference.

Why did I ever think that a necktie was a good accessory choice?

Yeah, she should switch to bowties.
Bowties are cool. :ajsmug:

Investigation style huh.. now thats awesome~ now i want to see Sonata having off court room confrontations

I like the Ace Attorney Investigations reference with edgeworth's logic

I do hope that "hiatus" status doesn't last long, mostly because this Trixie is so good. She's just so easy to be entertained by. She's delightfully superior, but not obnoxiously so.

On a side note, I swear that anyone who gets "Ace Attorney" in front of their name is made of rubber. Although, Trixie seems to be quite injured, it's been said that she'll be up and about soon (Apollo was caught in an explosion and was back at it within days as well).

But none can compare to the various abuse Phoenix has taken. Falling forty feet into a river (in the middle of winter, no less)? Take a couple days of bed rest.
Brained with a fire extinguisher? Get back up and do your job.
Oh, and who can forget? Getting hit by a speeding car and thrown headfirst into a telephone pole. But it's okay, he only got a sprained ankle from that one.

Wow. You're referencing Welcome To Ponyville? I loved that one. (Shame they cancelled it.)

This is turning out really well. And in my opinion, your writing seems to have improved quite a bit since starting, so kudos on that too.

Eagerly awaiting more. Wonder who the new arrival is? (As if I couldn't guess...)

Hmm. How unconventional to not reveal the true culprit in the same case. Unless it will be revealed in the epilogue. Or... you're making it part of the overarching plot? In which case I wholly approve.

This was a good chapter. Trixie got to play her overbearing self while still looking good, and worked well with the others as well.

All of the yes.

Also, Dr. Eye Alex Digit. D.E.A.D. Clever.

I'm guessing Trixie. Simply because having Phoenix (or even Apollo or someone else) show up is the kind of thing that only happens in the last trial.

And here we see the first major difference between Earth's and Equestria's Justice Systems: here, it actually is enough to just prove your client innocent. No need to find the true culprit.

Wait, seriously?! I- no, WE waited over 2 months for the next chapter, and you give us a measly 2.5k ENDING?! What the actual FUCK?!

"Being royalty does not automatically wipe away potential criminal activity," she concluded.

ok so far but its missing a motive, Righty's was that she gone insane. what was Digit moive for killing Coldheart?

Great story! Definitely going in my favorites, but I do still have a few questions. The most important one being who is new pony actually, some other people seem to know, but I have no idea who it is.

8059646 , I based New Pony's identity on the protagonist of an old, no longer available, fan-made, visual novel called "Welcome to Ponyville". I took a few liberties and added extra backstory. The Filly Gamez team never released beyond part 1 of the project before they seemed to disappear from the face of the Earth. I had to improvise to fill in some of the blanks.
