Clean! If your going to imply bad things happen off camera where the persons involved were 'Intoxicated' to the point where Rainbow should go to jail, I don't think using something like alcohol would get you any farther from clean. although Rainbow dash is of age and alcohol is available to her, the love poison could be seen as worse than alcohol since it completely overrides the users will.
That is my problem with the ending. RD and Scoots both have feelings for eachother. Taking the poison wouldn't change that for better, infact according to the show taking the poison would cause them to shut themselves away from everything, possibly neglecting important things like school and work. While alcohol is a temporary state that could enhances their feelings, assuming they need such a thing, I think it would have been far more romantic if finding how far both would go for each other that love would bloom. The ending kinda cheapens that.
personally I am against this pairing but I understand how some people might like it. Good writing style, don't give up!
