I think this is a great story. I've read plenty of stories in which Nightmare Moon and Celestia's places are switched but this is the first one that actually does more than just switch them around. Celestia failing to see the reality before her, Luna/Nightmare Moon stepping in before it's too late... very well done, really.
Only thing I find a bit odd is that Nightmare so casually calls a hit on Twilight's family. Seems weird, when a thousand years ago, she kicked her sister into the sun in order to save her ponies.

To address Nightmare Moon being so casual about killing Twilight's family,
from what little we've seen of her, her mood is inconsistent, she's more than likely a little insane.
In her episode she went from trying to kill the mane six with a manticore and making the ground drop away underneath them- so they'd fall to their deaths, to cutting off Steven Magnet's moustache and then trying to just frighten them away with scary faces on trees, before ponynapping Twilight to do Celestia knows what.
So from banishing her sister to the sun, to assassinating Twilight's parents is actually pretty close to Nightmare Moon's unstable personality.
It wil be interesting to see how the fight between Celestia and Twilight goes. cant wait for the next one. good job.

Yes, because as their interactions with Sombra, Discord, and Tirek show Celestia is an absolute pacifist who would never stand against a foe. I know it's alternate universe and all that crap but ugh that can only justify so much and I get the feeling this is just the tippity tip of the iceberg.
Why? Seriously, what gives? It's not like Celestia was a hostile. At least I can rest easy knowing that Nightmare Moon/Luna won't be deified and Celestia demonized.
