The problem is that folks are too used to 'jump scares' from the so-called horror movies of today.
This was still as evocative of Lovecraft as anything I've seen Kudos.
Agreed, this fic is definitely good, not quite as powerful or classic as it's predecessor, but it sets up Molly's possible return or resurrection, or worse, it would simply leave us wondering just what would happen! Just leaving it there, and it explains Screw Loose...which has always left me curious.
Overall, nice work, and I can honestly say this style of writing is worth the time spent reading it, for certain!

I'm waiting for someone to attack me over the branches at the beginning. The way I pictured it in my head, she never left the clearing. The house was her last defense of sanity against the horror, and she writes in the forest as the 'mummy' absorbs her friend's innards to heal. Jumping out the sanity house is succumbing to the insanity this horror brings to her now shattered mind.
But that's just my interpretation.

The Amulet is a G1 reference, the amulet that held the rainbow of happiness that in the first story Molly in her own insane ramblings said she could never open. Only her sister Meghan that she killed could, thus trapping Molly in the pony world.

...wait...so the Rainbow of Happiness is still in there? ...and was that the same Rainbow used against that big bag from the first MLP movie, Tyrek I think his name was? Or am I thinking of another Rainbow? Anyway, if it's the same, wouldn't it be remembered and worth investigating, or retrieving given it's significance and ability to help the world? Just saying, with Twilight and the other bearers around, there must be somepony able to open it by now.
