Piccolo Sky

I really should put something down here someday...

E

During Summer Swap Meet, the Mane Six meet an unusual and strange acting pony visiting the community. However, this unconventional mare is harboring a big secret that Twilight must discover quickly if she is to avert a tragedy...

This is the first fanfiction I ever wrote for MLP, and basically deals with a topic that's rather close to home for me... Would the Mane Six be able to befriend an "unusual" pony who doesn't quite "think the same" as others? I never intended for my OC to "join the Mane Six" or anything. I created her in order to basically make a character who has Asperger's Syndrome, to try and relate how hard it is for people who have this condition to integrate socially and make friends, no matter how hard they try. I also wanted to show just how hard it can be at times on a personal level. Because of that...this has some "darker" material than Y related show, but I'm still going to rate it Everyone.

Most of all...it's a thank you to all my own friends who never gave up on me and saw past my condition. You mean the world to me.

Since this was my first MLP fanfic...I'm not sure I was quite in the "spirit" of the show even after revisions...but I still think it's good, so I hope you enjoy it.

Wow, that was well written! I applaud you, ma'am/sir!

Thank you kindly. :)

I like it! Well done.

Interresting story.

I was a bit iffy on introducing the topic of suicide...but I know personally people in that sort of situation can feel incredibly "low" at points, especially if they feel they can't talk to anyone.

This is incredibly well done.

An extremely interesting topic and very well written indeed. :moustache:
I'm glad i found this even though it was hidden away among the crap, you totally deserves more attention for this

A good story. I really appreciate how you went in detail of how difficult another person's(or pony') life can be. Sometimes, we need to understand that people go through so much more than they let off. This story touched my heart... Seriously underrated!

:facehoof: Uh I have something in my eye... Yeah that's it, something in my eye... :fluttercry:

This is a beautiful story, I love it. I have know people with disabilities for almost all of my life and I know what difficulties they have and this is just beautiful. Well done, sad but happy at the same time. Now to get this thing out of my eye. :facehoof:

I'm not sure I was quite in the "spirit" of the show even after revisions...

On the contrary, I think this story would be quite within the spirit of the show, if the show were aimed at an older audience (like the "ABC After-School Special" series, if anyone here is old enough to remember those) and willing to tackle concepts like this.

Really good story, and for the record, I think this is a topic that a show like MLP could deal with. It'd have to be handled in a slightly lighter tone (the suicide thing would have to be done away with), but it could be done. I've seen kids shows deal with subjects like cancer, after all. Anyways, really liked this story, and I hope things go well for you in life.

One of the best stories I've ever read. Nice job. Keep up the good work. :pinkiehappy:

As a person with Asperger's, I can say with clarity how closely I can relate to Misty's situation. What I've always had trouble with is facing other people; it's worse because I have mild anxiety and ADD, too. I'm ashamed to say I've been at Misty's "lowest" in the story, as well.
But like you said in the author's notes: thank God for the "Twilights" in the world, because I might not be here today without mine.

This was a very well written story, I can personally relate to Misty as I struggled with ADHD and Autism myself. Again, this was a beautiful story and one of my new favorites.

This story probably needs a rewrite more than any of my others after Season Four... In "Trade Ya" they actually came up with something similar to "Summer Swap Meet", and the theme of "awkwardly trying to make friends with someone you don't get along with" was done in "Maud Pie" as well.

...But I did both first! :twilightangry2:

awesome this like totally needs to be an episode of the show.

maybe someone should give the writers of the show that idea.

Please make a sequel to this.

5897128 is that a yes or no?

5898920

That's the link to the sequel.

You should write a third story, where Misty meats Discord.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome myself, and I feel greatly for Misty Meadow

However, I can say with great certainty that I've never been that depressed: I was diagnosed fairly early on.

Also, I genuinely think that being a nerd helps, because then you're interested in a lot of stuff, and thus can talk to fellow nerds easier.
(Granted, my friends are mostly other Aspies, but still.)

I applaud you.

I feel your pain, Misty. I feel your pain.

Very well written story on a pretty interesting topic that I was not aware of
I cried a bit tho, so that's good
It's been a while since I've read a good OC story so thank you for this

This is the most criminally underviewed story I've read on this site. It has the same "voice" and tone as the show, to an extent I have never seen before with ANY other fic, but with somewhat darker subject matter. Everything in it either feels real, just like the show, or both. Lots of stories go for topics the show can't while still living in the show's world, and I feel this is the best case scenario for that kind of story. It's also the best case scenario for a self-insert story, to the extent that calling it that feels dirty.

Even more than many of my other very favorite fics, I feel this ought to be a very popular story, because it carries the themes of the show enough that I feel it would be accessible most of the fandom, especially those that loved Maud Pie and/or Amending Fences. I wish this story had 100 times the views.

"...Girls, didn't anything about that seem incredibly weird to you?"

"Well, duh." Pinkie responded. "I mean...no offense, but since when are you better at making friends than me, Twilight?"

This is so funny?? The characterization is absolutely spot on. I've laughed out loud a good few times already just with the dialog :rainbowlaugh:

This was such a beautiful story. The characterization was on point (seriously it was perfect), the mane six interacted so well it was like a good mlp episode except funnier (i laughed so much with this story??).

I've never read any story with a character with asperger's and it was such a nice change. It made it easier to understand by having Twilight and the gang get to know Misty and actually work and struggle to be friends with her. It made it real.

You flatter me. :twilightblush: To tell the truth, I wrote this fanfiction about three or four days after "joining the herd". I had only seen a fistful of Season Two episodes and binge-watched Season One, so I figured most of the characters would be OOC.

Especially my treatment of Pinkie Pie. I can't write her to save my life.

This was really well written! I'm about to read the sequel and I bet it's just as great as this one!

after seeing some awful hate towards autism i went to look for positive autism fics to cheer me up....and i have to say this one is INCREDIBLE. love misty, love the progression and the mane 6's understanding, love all of it!!!

Very nicely done. Thank you.
