HURRAY! NEW CHAPTER!
The more I see of this, the more I am convinced the leaders are either completely inept or don't really want a peaceful solution.
Unless they pull a complete personality 180 and shift into Professional Mode when dealing with ponies, this team is just an international incident waiting to happen.
2691554 Ares and Hades are both soldiers under the command of Aphrodite right now. They act according to their orders given by Prophet, to protect her at all costs while trying not to cause an interplanetary incident, as well as following the commands given by her since she outranks them here.
Aphrodite is an air head at times, but knows when to get her shit together. There is a reason she was picked to lead the diplomatic group.
Also, this is the first time even meeting any equestrian species. They have no real idea how to act, and no idea what is hostile and what isn't, so they resort to normal Aetherian methods when something threatens them: Kill the fuck out of it.

The murderizing of the hydra and manticore is understandable, it was their interactions with each other that I saw as not exactly good examples of the kind of people you want on a diplomatic mission. Though, I suppose that true judgement would have to wait until they actually speak with ponies and/or the Princesses.
2692082 Yes, their interactions. All of the people under Prophet's command are soldiers of a sort, so they act accordingly. While around authority, or when necessary, they are prime examples of discipline.
However, out in the field amongst themselves they will act like the best of friends and joke with each other.
Ares was sent specifically because he could murderize just about anything. Prophet didn't know what they would encounter, and sent his most dangerous soldier there. Hades is kind of a balance to him, thinks things through before killing, but is still quite lethal.
Aphrodite on the other hand, she is dangerous in her own right.
Out of the three of them, in a hierarchy focused around military accomplishments, Aphrodite is unbelievably a higher rank than Ares. She doesn't have quite the kill count, but she is still very dangerous and not to be underestimated.
