this cant be good
Hmm, we are getting somewhere.
Soooo. An ancient sentient object wants to have fun with the ponies... I see no possible apocalyptic consequences at all happening.
Argh I think it's hard to get a good picture of how their society works. On one hand we have that crazy and blood horny Aphrodite and on the other we have Prophet with his clam and justice like attitude. First I believed them some savage semi barbarian race but now I'm not so sure.
Prophet?! Yay!
2860376 It's a rather complex idea I admit. Basically, the better you are at doing your job(which is usually fighting and killing) the higher within the hierarchy you climb.
Promotions based around accomplishments, irregardless if they're psychotic as long as they get their job done well.
After all, a psycho with a blood frenzy can only climb so high before his frenzy overtakes his capability to perform well. That's when they get 'decommissioned'.
Ohh this is going to be great!
I have just finished reading this and I must say it was quite enjoyable.
2893904 Ok, I feel as though I've got quite a bit with your comment.
First of all, Seed is his own sentience. Trying to absorb him would, since he's technically the memories and lives of near a hundred people, drive her insane. That's if Seed willingly does it. You also have to take into account the fact that Aetherian tech manipulates ambient energy and can willfully cast out a destructive interference to said magic, which means he could fry her brain and use her body as a host if he wished.
If you want to suggest these things, think through using the same logic the story is written in. That means that these people are very powerful because they've adapted technology to be so.
The right way for one to end for you is not the right way I might want to write this one to end. If you want to read a story exactly how you want one written, then either write one or go read a professionally written one (which I'm assuming you're comparing this to).
You also have to take into account gradual desensitization. They got their shocks because they wrote these kinds of things when they were uncommon. With how many dark stories there are, you're not very likely to gasp at what happens in one.
I couldn't care less if you're disappointed in how I want my story to end. If you want a different ending to a story, write one yourself. That way you can change it if you so wish. You wouldn't walk up to Hitchcock and say 'this could've been better' because it is breaking the respect of word between yourself as a reader and them as an author.
And where did I say Seed was enslaved? He is an entity designed with the sole purpose of training future Prophets to not repeat the mistakes of previous ones.
Different endings appeal to different readers. I for one enjoy a twist ending, whereas my friend enjoys happy endings. I also do enjoy shock endings, those 'happy-endings-wait-OH-SHIT' moments make me so happy to see, because they aren't restricting themselves to the 'this has to be happy' kind of idea that most viewers want nowadays.
Yes, plenty of people enjoy dark and destruction. I unabashedly admit that I'm one of those people. And this story isn't so much 'desecrating and destroying' some important idea, it's showing an alternate side by introducing characters outside the influence of said idea. By creating a contrast to the peaceful 'utopia' of Equestria, I'm trying to show that it's actually a stagnant limbo forcefully held in place by it's 'utopic leader' Celestia. With magic, they could have advanced so much more than they did under the idealistic and harmonious reign of Princess Celestia.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I couldn't care less about what you expect out of my story. If you can't see past the fact I get some of my enjoyment out of my story, and to the idea that I'm trying to create using this fic, then I feel sad for you.
I'm writing this for me, and if anyone else enjoys my writing then kudos to them. Based on more than a few comments by other people, I'm pretty sure I'm doing a pretty bang-up job at my story.
