We all know the stories of how Luna became Nightmare Moon and how Discord filled Equestria with non-stop chaos. But what if these things never happened?

Instead of Luna becoming jealous of Celestia and becoming evil, Celestia becomes obsessed with order and harmony. She seeks to obtain perfect order, and she can only do that if she destroys chaos and disharmony.

Discord knows that not everyone can live in total chaos so he keeps the hardcore chaos in his own realm, and has his shenanigans down to a minimum when he visits Equestria. Little does he know that the invitation Celestia sent him was nothing more than a trap.

After the royal wedding at Canterlot, Luna can't help but feel a bit jealous about the couple and the gift they share. Fearing that this could mean the return of Nightmare Moon she quickly asks Celestia for advice. Though sometimes the advice isn't the one she wants to hear. "I don't want that kind of love, I want.... true love, somepony with whom I can have a family.... maybe have some foals. I want love sister... is that too much to ask?"

Deciding that she needed another opinion, she decided to go visit a most unusual doctor and tell him the tale behind her sadness.

This is my first attempt at a sad story, it used to be related to my other story but I decided it would be better to tell it like this so the other story is gone... but it will be told in a small series I intend to start starring the Doctor and other ponies.

The neighboring kingdom of Aurora lays to the north of Equestria has always been reclusive. Much like there Queen Eventide, even through there generations of isolationism the diarchy of Equestria has always tried to form relations to no avail.
Queen Eventide had always respectfully decline the many invitations sent by Celestia. Mandatory meeting of the kingdoms was always visited by a trusted representative, and dispatching hardly sincere apologies as she declined to attend the celebrations. Yet to the princesses surprise the queen accepted to attend this years Grand Galloping Gala, why now of all celebrations?
Eventide, the queen, is a unicorn. As was her husband, King Astrid, who has sadly passed. And she to will pass on one day. The royal pony sisters had always wondered why she had not chosen a heir to assend to the throne on the day of her passing. But they didn't know of her only child, her heir. One who had wished to see the Equestrian capital city of Canterlot. The princess of the Aurorian throne, alicorn heir to her mother. Princess Twilight Aurora Sparkle, child of Queen Eventide

It had been a quiet, uneventful day for Doctor Whooves in Ponyville. That was, until an unfamiliar pony asked to go back 1001 years in time for an “educational” visit.

Through unforeseen consequences, the pony prevents Celestia's victory over Nightmare Moon and Equestria is plunged into eternal darkness. This wouldn't be so much of a problem if The Doctor hadn't already made his way back home. Well, “home” is now a different place entirely: Discord has broken free and most ponies are struggling for survival in the wasteland.

Now years apart and in an unfamiliar timeline, the two have to survive, mend the huge rip in time, and bring stability back to Equestria once more.

Note: zero to minimal knowledge of 'Doctor Who' is required to read this.

Ponykind has many legends.

They tell of terrifying monsters, fearsome beats, and crippling illnesses. The Mare in the Moon, Daring Do and Ahuizotl... They are all based on realty, though some are more fanciful than others. Ponies everywhere enjoying re-telling them to friends over a mug of cider, or to young fillies too restless to fall asleep. Still, one story is rather taboo in Ponyville. It tells of a sickness that cannot be cured. The reason only brave colts whisper it to each other in dark alleyways is because it is too close to home. The sickness has visited Ponyville before.

The Apple Family is all-too-familiar with this sickness, known too many as the dark plague. Several years ago, many ponies died in a deadly epidemic. The Ponyville chapter of the Apples was very nearly disbanded by the fearsome killer, and it still managed to orphan Big Macintosh and Applejack. Now, old nightmares are rising from the black pits of the past. Applejack, the bearer of Honesty and most dependable pony around, has fallen ill. Though few realize it, she is in very grave danger. No pony magic can cure the dark plague.

Desperate to keep her family together, Apple Bloom and her friends have vanished into the Everfree Forest, to seek the aid of a herbalist. Perhaps the skills of a zebra can save her sister. What they do not know is that there is but one race that can stop the Plague. A race that is only spoken of in legend and myth. A race that has not been seen since Princess Celestia was but a filly...

Princess Luna finds more than a friend in her sister's student, and Twilight Sparkle gets a chance to study the moon and stars far closer than she ever dreamed possible.

Twilight Sparkle, just a filly when she became Princess Celestia's private pupil, years later she became friends with five different but unique mares, and together they became the bearers of the Elements of Harmony, defeated Nightmare Moon, Discord, and Tirek as well. She has come a long way and is now declared as the Princess of Friendship. Everything was going to be just fine... or was it?
A shocking discovery turns Twilight's life upside down. With some advice from Princess Celestia, she learns that there are distant lands far out from Equestria, lost lands that nopony has every visited. Twilight, along with Spike, sets off on a quest to the Lost Lands, hopefully to learn more about herself. She will meet new ponies, which include a engineering scientist, a snow princess, a pirate captain, a dragon raised musician, and a hunter.
Meanwhile, worried for her well being, Twilight's friends; Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie sets off to find her, in hopes to aid her in anyway they can.
Soon, Twilight learns of a vicious evil king known as Asterof, is attempting to conquer Equestria, and is aided by Queen Chrysalis and her Changeling army. She also stumbles upon a secret that could change her life forever.
Friendships may be tested, Secrets will be revealed, and a difficult choice that Twilight will make that could change everything.

It has long been the subject of dreams; for earth ponies to harness the power of the unicorns' active magic, for the unicorns to leap into the air and feel free as their pegasus bretheren, and for the pegasi to have the immense strength earth ponies are known for.

For some time after Luna was purified from her Nightmare Moon form, she has been experiencing acute amnesia. Memories of her past have been fading from her mind, her happiest memories. Unsure of the cause, Celestia suggests she go visit Komodo University, situated deep in the frozen north. There, the prestigious yet virtually unknown university harbors a deep secret.

They have managed to create hybrid ponies, something Luna attempted over 2000 years ago but ultimately failed to do. They created the arions, earth ponies with a short unicorn horn and the strength to tear craters in the sacred earth; pegacorns, unicorns that were given the power of flight at the cost of their leg muscles being in a state of atrophy; and chollima, pegasi that were blessed with the strength of earth ponies but cursed with the energy of both races.

Curiosity abound, Luna journeys off to see these hybrids for herself. But what she doesn't realize is that they harbor a great secret, one which will lead her into a grand war that nopony knew was even brewing, one which may just lead Equestria into greater chaos that even Discord could dream of.

With a visit from the Emperor of all things-quite-dead. absolute ruler of Deadquestria, Pinkie Pie learns the secrets of inter-temporal/ Dimensional chatting!

Apart form the unusual encounter, it also appears that her future self, along with the rest of her friends has gone missing in a out-worldish dimension...

Along with Nightmare Moon, Emperor Redeadne, Princess Celestia and Spike the dragon. One of the most unlikely rescue operations is underway..

Luna has been through a rough past, feeling unappreciated, depression and her experience of turning into Nightmare Moon.

But one day, a visit to a magical cave in the Everfree Forest changed everything when Celestia decided to bring a little souvenir home with her.

Equestria's only help leads to Luna, Celestia's sister who has no control over the situation. She too, has gone through an evil phase, only to be stopped by The Elements of Harmony.

But with the elements no longer in control with Twilight and her friends, she has to go on an unexpected journey with Twilight and Princess Cadence, to save Equestria from Solar Flare, her sister.
