Well, this was fun. This special is probably the best one out of all the new specials yet. The humor was spot on. It hit all the right emotional notes. The spotlighted characters had great chemistry. I can’t think of anything bad to say about this special off the top of my head.
And it gave me more fanfic ideas but I’m going to wait until it premieres in America next month. Don’t want a lot of people to get spoiled.
Grading Scale:
A (fantastic episode)
A- (an excellent episode with at least one flaw)
B+ (a great episode with a couple of flaws)
B (a good episode which still could have been better)
So... for a bit of context, some time ago I proposed a possibility about the exact origins of a certain artifact seen in My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Sunset's Backstage Pass. And one of the theories I proposed for the reason it ended up in the human world was a character who was never seen on-screen besides a drawing, but was alluded to in My
Something happened in the latest Equestria Girls special. Something they've been hinting at since the first movie finally got confirmation.
Spoilers below!
I DON'T CARE! I SHIP IT!
It's just perfect, you guys! I loved it so much! I'm not sure if it was the time loop narrative (that I love too), the return of the Dazzlings, the awesomely funny moments, the friendship moral or just the lovely pure shipping of my favorite Equestria Girls
I want to write more shipfics about those two but if my count is correct...
So in my previous post, it was all about ragging on the Rainbow Roadtrip. I don't regret anything, and I still haven't completed a full watch. Lord knows I wasn't going to waste time with that during the family reunion for the long 4th of July weekend. But I've seen how people like it, including an old friend of mine. So I
I'll post my rating on it when I have some time, but in the meantime, some sad news:
It seems Nick Confalone tweeted that this was the final Equestria Girls special, which came as a surprise even to everyone on the DHX team, as well as there suddenly being no Season 2 finale or a Season 3 anymore. ::
So... to begin with a disclaimer, I'm well-aware that the theory I'm about to propose may very well have been proposed by other users before, considering it could perhaps be seen as an obvious conclusion to make. And considering I haven't yet watched the piece of media that it's featured in, it may also be completely wrong, depending on the specific artifact's mechanics.
But this thought just came to me today, and I couldn't help but dwell upon it once it crossed my mind.
At no point in Rainbow Rocks or Sunset's Backstage Pass does anyone call Aria Blaze by name in dialogue.
If her name hadn't been in the credits of Rainbow Rocks, and if there hadn't been a doll of her, we might still be speculating on her name today.
0/10 - AWFUL (unsalvageable, nothing to be gained from watching it, never should have been made, wouldn't recommend to anyone, completely butchers an important subject/teaches a horrible and downright toxic moral)
1/10 - HORRIBLE/BORING (tedious to sit through, hurts to watch it, a bore, no reason to watch it, whatever positive things about it are tiny and not enough to save it)
This week, the MLP Time Loops become that much closer to canon, albeit with a much shorter loop time. Let’s get this rondo rolling.
