Wallflower Blush finally has friends of her own. She’s accepted, tolerated, treated with kindness and respect. For once, she has a place where she belongs.

Or she would, if she weren’t the only one of the group to not have magic of her own, now that she’s lost the Memory Stone.

Fortunately, someone can help her with that. Unfortunately, the price may be higher than Wallflower thinks...

Everyone deserves a second chance.

That's what Twilight Sparkle told them when she first came over, and left a broken, remorseful Sunset Shimmer in their tender care. Taking her words to heart, they took her into their circle friends, giving her a gift that can't be priced... a gift that saved them in their darkest hour against their worst foes yet.

Months later, Sunset Shimmer is a changed mare, and the Rainbooms are finally, seemingly, able to rest on their laurels. Until, an old foe returns... but not the same as she was before. Things have changed, and the Rainbooms may have another chance to give the gift that had so enriched their own lives... and restore hope to someone who feels as though deserve nothing.

Worthless, weak, ugly—as far as Twilight is concerned, that's all she'll ever be. Even three months into their relationship, Twilight still refuses to believe that an absolute goddess like Sunset could ever love a loser like her. And it doesn't help that Twilight spends every night being tormented by nightmares of Midnight Sparkle, the one being who hates Twilight more than she hates herself.

Twilight can only remember a single moment in her life when she felt strong: the five minutes that she spent as Midnight Sparkle. The five minutes she spent with magic.

Now, tortured by fear, anxiety, and never-ending nightmares, Twilight knows the only way to win Sunset's love is to make herself stronger—even if that means resurrecting the demon inside of her.

After some time of turning over a new leaf, Sunset was happy with her life. She gained new friends, slowly winning over the students at CHS and became the protector of the human world alongside her friends against any rouge magic and creatures. She wanted to give back to everyone by becoming the head director of the Christmas party and Toys for Kids Festival at the school on Christmas Eve.

But when the events of the party and festival went wrong due to her past, Sunset was down on her dumps after she was blamed for the disaster and felt like she had ruined her friends lives because of her. Just when she was about to give up on everything, a mysterious teenaged girl, who claimed to be her guardian angel, showed Sunset what the world and her friends would be like without her.

The girls try to befriend her, but this Sunset doesn't seem to be too interested in friendship. She is, however, very interested in the rumors of magic surrounding Canterlot High, and seems to be hiding something magic related herself. And when magical mishaps begin to occur, the Equestria Girls begin to suspect that this new Sunset may be behind them. Is it possible that she's evil and power hungry the way her counterpart once was, or is there something else at work?

This story is a sequel to Mister Cook Goes to Canterlot

A Twin Canterlots story—last in Cook’s Tour; followed by Virga

Cook, that’s the fanciest—and stuffiest—restaurant around here!” Sunset looked and sounded aghast. “What’ll I wear?”
I let my eyebrows rise. “This from one of the girls who magic up spiffy new ensembles every few weeks?”
By rights her glare should have reduced me to cinders. “That’s different and you know it. This isn’t even like a Rainbooms gig, where I can get away with something outrageous. Whatever it is must be pretty serious or you wouldn’t be so insistent—and evasive; don’t think I haven’t noticed.”
When I simply shrugged, she sighed in resignation. “Fine. I’ll talk to Rarity and see what we can come up with on my pitiful budget.”

Takes place during winter break of senior year—middle of season 6.

Sunset Shimmer has returned for The Gala for the first time since she ran away to the human world, and she has brought a date: her girlfriend, SciTwi.

With the reputation The Gala has gotten in recent years, one pony is insistent on having at least ONE year where no guests are sent to the hospital, no new construction is needed on the castle, and no one is almost sent to another dimension.

This can...only end well, right? Right?

No...no it can't.
