During an otherwise ordinary bus ride on the way back from the Friendship Games, Indigo Zap and her friends reflect upon what they have seen and experienced.

Lightning Dust was a pony of pride. She was a pony of action and was destined for great deeds. She would never let anything stop her from this destiny. Sadly, that very attitude had seemed to dash it all away.
A second chance doesn't come for everyone, but on this day, it came for Lightning Dust.
The Shadowbolts; A new flight team in the name of Luna, Princess of the Night. With their first exhibition completed in Cloudsdale, they had hoped to get a few star recruits to fill out the team. They weren't expecting to get Lightning Dust.

One thousand years ago, three of Equestria's finest soldiers prepared to launch a war that was fated to never occur. When Nightmare Moon is defeated for the second time and final time, they are ejected into a very different world than from what they remember.

Phoenix Ember, last loyal member of the Shadowbolts, is left abandoned by his soldiers to his immortal enemy: Celestia. His only hope to survive in this confusing new world where Celestia rules is to learn and understand. Who better to teach him about this Equestria than one of the Elements of Harmony?

This is a story about five little ponies who had nopony in the world they could trust. A story about how even a villain can bring about friendship in eternal darkness. A story about what friends will do for one another, and for the dream that brought them together.

It had been so many years since Lightning Dust was kicked out of the Wonderbolt Academy. She never thought much about those days, nor of Rainbow Dash. Upon meeting again after so many years, Rainbow wants to know what Lighting Dust has been up to.

And so she tells her. She tells her about the parents that washed their hooves of her. About the stallion who became a real father. About the dream she was able to fulfill. And the family she came to love.

This is her story from nothing to something.
