When Celestia decides Spike is finally ready to learn about his true dragon heritage, the young dragon is introduced to a whole new side of himself.

This side, unfortunately, includes an incredibly stupid surname.

In order to have it changed, he must embark on a perilous adventure through the dangerous world of civil court bureaucracy.

Gawren has finally made it to Ponycon, a celebration of Equestria's heroes and values. Sure, some other griffons might think it's lame, but those guys were so busy trying to be cool that they never had any fun. And that's what Gawren was here for. Fun. ...And maybe also to meet a particular special somepony. ...Yeah... mostly that.

Their camping trip to the Everfree had been through some ups and downs, but Twilight and her friends nevertheless return home having enjoyed it. However, as they enter the Friendship Palace, they're shocked to discover an intruder within. A mare with a very familiar face, who has come to them after having escaped a gruesome fate. But, if that were not surprising enough, then they're truly taken aback when this newcomer explains why she's here.

It has been four hundred and fifty years since the clans of Old Pegasopolis went into exile. The island-nation of Freeport languishes under the rule of the Necrocrats; what began as an idealistic experiment has become a new form of corruption, the ideals of the past lost amid the greed and vain ambition of lesser men. Clan Charger has been all but destroyed, while the Strikers and Doos teeter upon the brink of collapse. There is no hope for the future.

However, when a down-on-his-luck mercenary captain crosses paths with Torch, the last survivor of Clan Charger, it sets in motion a chain of events that will redefine the very face of Freeport itself.

Twilight Sparkle is concerned that she may one day go insanely evil, as with Nightmare Moon or Daybreaker. So, knowing Twilight, do you really think for one moment she's just going to wait for it to happen?
