After completing yet another marvellous masterpiece of fashion, Rarity faintly feels like she's ready to tell the pony that inspired her new dress exactly how she feels. She has only one problem. Though her feelings for a certainty orange earth pony may be genuine, she has no idea whether her close friend will feel the same way, especially after a certain training event involving unicorns to which Rarity was not invited. In the end however, she may simply have to accept that she's all out of luck.

Applejack plans to ask a special somepony out on a date, but a certain ivory unicorn refuses to downplay such an event. After all, AJ is finally showing some love interest for the first time in her life—it's crucial for everything to be perfect! Which is why Rarity will do everything in her power to help Applejack on scoring her first date, despite the heavily implied protest from the apple-bucking mare herself.

Rarity knows that, and while she wouldn't trade the life she chose for anything in the world, she still needs a break sometimes. What better opportunity is there than going on a walk with a friend - one who has become dearer to her than she had ever been willing to believe?

When Rarity and Applejack endure their final summer together, the last night is what counts the most. With a truck bed full of pillows and the whole night ahead of them, there’s a lot of things in between. There are words. There are numbers. There are kisses. But most importantly, there is love. A love that seems silly, and that of a cliche high school set-up… yet deep down, there might be something more.

A poorly-planned out sleep-over reveals a secret Applejack has been keeping from Rarity: not only does she own a plush toy greatly resembling her friend, but she holds some strong feelings for that friend as well.

It happened quick. That's what most survivors don't realize. They talk about how it felt like they had hours to react to avoid disaster. They don't realize. It happens in a flash, an exhale, a heartbeat's time. And then, after that heartbeat, what then? After they exhale and take their next breath, what happens?

They learn to live again.
