Just before the invasion of Canterlot, a small waystation in the Badlands is taken over by changelings to serve as staging point. Sheltering Heart, the hapless hostess of the place, is locked up in a storage cellar.

After months of non-stop writing, aspiring author Pencil Lead has finally published his first book. To promote his newborn magnum opus, he holds a book signing at a local Manehattan bookstore, hoping to draw in potential readers.
It doesn't go as planned.

And when she is forced to confront consequences worse than any she could have imagined, it's just going to get harder.

With only her newfound desperation to drive her forwards, Berry Punch throws herself into what might truly be her last living attempt at recovery.
