SPark

Not checking in here. I may post stories because my patrons are nice and like ponies. Otherwise out of the fandom, sorry peeps.

T

A collection of unrelated, very short, complete stories. These stories are generally cracked ideas, or things that just want out of my head, but don't really make for a full tale. Some are prompts from community threads, or things from my own prompt collab events. They are posted without editing by anybody else.

Some of them I feel are great stories. Some of them are terrible. All of them were fun to write.

22. The Twilight Shall Last Forever - But Twilight Sparkle is less than happy about that.
21. Refrain - An all in ensemble performs once again for the end (and the beginning) of the world.
20. Hey baby - Sweetcake runs into trouble when trying to get Pinkie Flowers for Hearts N' Hooves.
19. Awkward - Ember learns why she shouldn't go out in public in her true form.
18. Bad News - Cadance worries about telling Shining that their life is about to change.

Is Twilight still a unicorn?

3981611 In which story? There are three here. :3

I like it. It's short and sweet and hits you hard good work.

3984706 Thank you very much. :pinkiehappy:

I like this one to it just had a nice sweetness to it and I'm a sucker for the classic keep up the good work and hope to see more.

3984723 Thanks again. I will probably write more cute little things eventually. Right now I'm working on a longer piece, though.

3984733 cool is it going to be something epic and tragic or more on the light hearted side? I'll have to check it out when you put it up.

3985862 No, she's not still a unicorn in the second one.

3986308 It's basically a sadfic that works through to a happy ending.

3986685
Bother. I very much prefer her old self over her new self.

3986781 Well, the entire point of the story was Twilight growing and changing. Her being an alicorn is a big part of it.

3986690 ok I like sad fics but it can be hard to work in a happy ending that's not cliché. About to post one too just wait on my editor.

3981611 :facehoof:
She mentioned that she didn't need the wings, and "consummate our eternal alicorn love"
Keyword being ALICORN.:facehoof:

As a fair warning, I need to point out that it's stated in the Story Submission rules under "Don't Post:" "Multiple chapters of stories as separate stories."

Did a moderator pass this with "A collection of unrelated, very short, complete stories" in the description at the time?

4061405 You have that rule exactly backwards. I can't post multiple chapters of the SAME story, ie. "Chapter one" as it's own story, then "Chapter two" as it's own story, but I am perfectly free to post multiple stories together as chapters of one story.

And yes, this passed moderation with three of the stories already in place. As have hundreds of other short story collections like it by other authors.

:derpyderp2: Oh.
Ohhhhh.
OHHHHHHHH!...

me English good. :derpytongue2:

So far in the four stories you've posted there's a very subtle mood. Points of apprehension in regards to Twilight and Celestia's relationship - it seems that your writing of Celestia is almost enabling Twilight to remain less-than-peers-more-than-student/teacher in those instances that Twilight's an alicorn.

Most notably to me is the style that all of them take on. To describe a scene, have a character think over the options available, then act on them. It's very deliberate, perhaps extending from Twilight's primary role in the fics, but Celestia definitely shares that characteristic in the gentle manner she treats Twilight.

As for chap 4...

This story reminds me of the fact that Harlan Ellison has a stockpile of typewriters because he too much of a luddite to use laptops.
It also reminds me of my roommate getting on my case about being online a lot even though he watches "Gilligan's Island" and other shows older than me all flippin' day. (He watches what I call Hospice Television; TV that's so boring, it'll make you want to die.)
Every generation has it's pet peeves, I guess. I like what you are doing here. Keep it up.

4093662 Thanks! (I find it kind of hilarious that people say the internet is ruining today's kids. Those same people are the ones whose parents said TV would ruin them, and their parents were "ruined" by radio, and, well...) :pinkiehappy: So once I had the idea that of course Celestia would have watched all this going on since the very beginning, I just had to write it.

… and by the obvious fact that Pinkie Pie is a witch of some kind.

So many things just started making a lot more sense.

Oh Big Mac, you sly old dog you!

You do realize who wrote the Pony Sutra... :trollestia:

Well, at least you'll have a ready-made language to draw on when the Klingon speaks rather than having to describe the mishmash of words-- or faceroll the keyboard trying to fake an alien language. :rainbowlaugh:

Yeah, my nerdy side wants more. I'm very certain Luna would enjoy his view on the world as she's got a hoof 1000 years in the past when combat was ruled by honor and war was glorious. Now Celestia? Ehhh... not so much. She'd be the first to jump on the Federation's side of one big galaxy sized bro-hug.

(Kirk would probably start an incident because he's way too much of a stud for the single-and-available mares to ignore) :facehoof:

I always thought Pinkie Pie was related somewhere along the line to Discord. It's the only way to explain her fun-chaos reality-is-my-wench powers.

I wasn't sure at first but this one smacks so strongly of Adam's Family shenanigans that I can almost taste the swamp gas. I kinda wish there was more of this one, although short-form ficlets would work best in a 30 minute sitcom kind of way.

4113069 Oh yeah, I could see this guy and Luna getting along. :pinkiehappy:

4113305 The Gathering setting is one I'd like to play more with, I almost posted it as a separate story just so I could, but I don't have any real plot ideas yet, it's all just atmosphere stuff.

Plato and Aristotle.

4159796 Ding, ding, ding! Have your nerd point!

A Klingon? Well, that should be interesting. The Klingons are aggressive and warlike (unlike we humans, they evolved from pure carnivores). That said, only a particularly stupid warrior would start a fight unless he had to when alone and outnumbered several million to one. It's the long-term that's a concern: The Empire, long frustrated by poor- to non-existent agricultural resources on Q'uo'Nos, might be interested in... er... "acquiring" Equestria's agriculture for its own use.

That said, Equestria in the Star Trek universe is an interesting idea. A lot depends on precisely where their system is because the Star Trek galaxy is a dangerous place. If it's in the Beta Quadrant, somewhere around the 'tri-border' region between the Federation, Klingon Empire and Romulan Alliance, then things are going to get er... 'interesting' in an apocalyptic way very, very quickly. If it's in the Alpha Quadrant, on the other side of Federation space, then the Cardassians and Ferengi will come sniffing around. Oddly enough, the Delta Quadrant may be a bit safer. The only threat species in that area likely to be directly interested in Equestria are the Kazon who are really just Diamond Dogs with phasers. The Borg would probably not notice how potentially important the Ponies were unless someone were to rub their abilities in the Collective's metaphorical face. If they're in the Gamma Quadrant, the Dominion would invade on base principles (the ponies are 'solids' and therefore inherently a threat). That said... if this is post-DS9 then I imagine Odo might find Celestia a very interesting pony to know and a potential ally in his attempt to reform his people's xenophobic civilisation.

Wow... I've just had a thought of the ponies using the Elements on a Borg Cube and the Magic of Friendship being spread throughout the entire Collective.

You never know what the future really holds. Celestia remembers when ponies were still nomadic grazer-gathers. She's seen more change than most can even imagine.

Tim Burton eat your heart out!

4160939 He he he. You've put more thought into this than I did, really. I just wanted to mess with the standard "ponies found a strange biped, and it is of course a human, probably one who is a brony" story, by having it be something very much not human. Whether that means Equestria is in the Federation universe, or of some cross-dimensional something or other happened, I don't know.

The idea of the ponies friendshipping the Borg is pretty awesome though!

4261465 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. :pinkiehappy:

WWWWHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PINKIE

4265230 Pinkie knows how to have a good time. :pinkiehappy:

Holy Sixth that was awesome.

Well done.

4265539
4265484
Thanks, you guys! :pinkiehappy:

I have a real soft spot for stories that ship Twilight/Celestia.:trollestia:

...Aaaand the feels.

The Six-damned feels.

Nice.

4270440  I'm glad it has some "feels", that was what I was going for with this one. Not much of a story, just a little scene with some emotion to it.

4270497 It's under 500 words, and even though it's a vignette, it's still feel-y.

Yes, that is a word. Shush.

Also, update the summaries in the description?

4270508 Oh yeah, that! I knew I was forgetting something. :twilightblush:

Boilerplate prompt: What could possibly go wrong?

...could fill a whole novel reexamining that one repeatedly, heh.

Oh gods...

Also, idea for a prompt: What have you done, Pinkie?

It popped into my head after reading this and I realized there are a billion possible answers. More, if you allow Pinkie to flip off physics.

4279471 You should come join me next time I do a prompt collab event then. I'll probably have one sometime in the next week or two, since the last one was so much fun.

4279476 You'll need to remind me closer to then. Because I guarantee I'll forget.

Also, feel free to replace "Pinkie" with Twilight. It still works!

EDIT: I just realized that I can send delayed emails to myself! O Wondrous Day, this joy shall be forever unparalléd!

When you make a deal with a devil, then there's hell to pay. Luna is old enough and powerful enough to have no excuse for not knowing that!

Another excellent short! Well done.

Also, *unstoppable giggle fit*

4284884 Yay, I was actually funny! (Comedy is not my strong point.)
