This story is a sequel to Not That, Twilight!

The Princess of The Sun may be loved and respected, but that doesn't mean she was treated as equal amongst ponykind. Every year when Hearts Warming Eve arrives, all Celestia can do is watch ponies laugh, exchange gifts, build snow ponies, and sing carols together from her window. She wishes she can join them, but ponies will likely get all awkward if she came by just to say hello. She gets only one present from Cadence.

This year though, her student changed things a lot.

Following King Sombra's defeat, a crystal pony contemplates her newfound freedom.

Caring for an Alicorn can be hard. Rainbow Dash finds... something on her early morning flight over the Everfree Forest. She's not exactly sure what this something is, but she sure will make sure to not only keep him safe, but also away from anypony! She doesn't need the whole town freaking out about him!

After all, who would believe her story that a deformed ghost was wanting to burn down the whole Everfree Forest as retribution?

Celestia has a secret. There is a voice in her head. It plays a game she doesn't really understand but fears all the same. It wants her, and with everypony that knows of its existence its power grows. She has kept it away for as long as she can remember.

Luna is set to return, and with it, a friend of the voice. Can Celestia endure the voice's games and strengthen her relationship with Luna, or will she lose everything to it?

Twilight enjoys a relaxing sunset with Anon. The moment is perfect.

Well...

Except for that gnawing.

In the halls of the Crystal Palace, Rarity has a dinner and a conversation with her young ward about several things. It ends up changing a lot of things between them.

Not connected to my other story; this is just something I got inspired to write one night.

Celestia is no longer who she used to be.
With preparations for the inevitable Changeling Invasion requiring more and more sacrifice from Equestria's previously unshakable ethos of pacifism and friendship, Twilight has taken a role as Celestia's, now Daybreaker, closest advisor and assistant.

She had not been prepared for what these tasks would require of her.
No longer able to reconcile her harmonic ideals with her current actions, Twilight has cut off contact with her closest friends to avoid hurting them... and herself.

But, as her unfortunate personal bodyguard is about to find out, Ponies were not meant to carry their burdens alone.

One week after Starlight Glimmer suffered a "relapse" during some long-overdue friendship lessons, Spike found her reflecting and lamenting in her bedroom. After some urging from the dragon, Starlight admitted she wasn't sure if the Mane 6 (save for Twilight) had truly accepted her as "one of them." But most of all, the reformed friend-in-training legitimately wondered if a pony with her past even deserved friends at all.
