Who was she to believe? She was barely a day old, and already she'd seen the disappearance of her mirror images, all but her. Was she just a clone? A disposable unfeeling analog?
What would happen if she became her own pony? If she became real?

Is it possible for one of the Pinkie's, the only copy left behind, to develop? To become an entirely different pony to the one that she was modelled after?

Have you ever wondered why Pinkie turned into the mare-murdering pony she is? Have you ever wondered at what point had that sweet pink ball of happiness and sunshine turned into the torture loving mare? Well my dear reader, let me take you back to the past, where it all started. This is the unofficial prequel to the insanely popular fan-fic Cupcakes, the original story does not belong to me.

I've decided to cancel this because it's going downhill.

What if the chosen Pinkie Pie in the newest MLP episode was the WRONG one?

This takes place in an alternate universe where the chosen Pinkie Pie to stay is actually Pinkamena Diane Pie. (To me, I would consider this maybe a Cupcakes beforemath.)

I guess you can kind of assume the real Pinkie goes a bit coo-coo and so forth. I'm really not sure where this fanfic will go since I'm kind of just coming up with ideas off the top of my head. Anyways, enjoy.

Strange disappearances in Ponyville have caused everypony to hide and completely stay off the streets

First Pinkie vanishes, then slowly but surely more and more begin to vanish.
Finally when Rainbow Dash goes missing Twilight goes on a search and rescue mission, starting with the last place Rainbow was spotted...Sugarcube Corner.

But is all as it seems in the supposedly happy and brighter than sunshine bakery or is there more than meets the eye?

Sometimes there are things in this world that scare us. But that's ok. Such things are normal.

It's ok to be scared from time to time, and even fun occasionally. You just have to remember to giggle at the ghosties, guffaw at the grossly, crack up at the creepy, etc. etc. Because none of it can really hurt you if you just keep perspective.

But sometimes, we come across certain things that we can't just laugh away. Sometimes a simple giggle isn't enough.

Because sometimes, the ghosties are real.

This is my entry for the 2012 Nightmare Night fic-writing event. It was written in a single day with basically no planning beforehand. Let it be known: I am not overly proud of this story. It was just a fun little experiment to write something outside my comfort zone and boy howdy was it ever that. Anyways, this is not meant to be taken seriously so just dive straight in and prepare to be... what's the word... scared? I dunno, maybe. Prepare to be something, in any case.

Unfortunately for Rainbow Dash, she has many competitors, many fans, many many fans. Some of which very desperately wanted to have the beautiful rainbow mane all to themselves.
