Telling scary stories around the campfire is a long camping tradition, but when Applejack gets tired of hearing Rainbow Dash tell the same story with different words, she decides to share one of her own that her mother told to her, a long time ago. It couldn’t possibly be true, of course, no matter what Pear Butter had said all those years before.

It’s not as if anyone has ever seen any proof, after all.

Reel Projection has disappeared. Nopony has any clue as to where he went or how he vanished. However, one thing is for certain is that he did leave a nearly seven-page note behind. In it, he described a lost, banned film from the silent film era.

His attention has turned to the Equestrian Society for Film Preservation in hopes of finding a film that is linked to his ancestor who disappeared during the silent film era. While his hunch does pay off, he finds that the film he has been looking for might have more than one mystery wrapped in its film reel.

After insisting to join her, little Apple Bloom gets lost in the woods after chasing a mysterious mare hiding amongst the poison joak. She stumbles upon a town completely isolated within the Ever Free Forest, but something about this town just doesn't feel right...
