The events of the Sunset Shimmer incident are weeks in the past and everyone is doing their best to move on from it, including Sunset herself; she wants to make amends for her mistakes and forge better relationships with the people of her adopted world, but they don't make it easy. Few, if any, are willing to take a chance on her save for the friends of Princess Twilight.

Perhaps there is at least one other out there who might show her a little understanding?

Hi! Okay, I shouldn't really be talking yet - I mean, it's kind of cheating to get started here - but I'm going to because I can! Today's a really special day, but I don't want to spoil anything, just that there's someone special...really, somepony special - and I want her to know how special and I've been waiting so long and everything is going to be AMAZING!

Sunset Shimmer is going to have the best Saturday EVER!

It's a rare thing when you find somepony special who brings light into your life—a light you didn't know you were missing. When you find that pony, isn't it only fitting to return the favour?

But such a busy schedule can wear a mare down after a time. Enough so that she can't even muster the energy to read one of her old romance novels.

Dear Small Pony Book,

Hello. My name is Thorax. I am a changeling formerly of the Badlands Hive, ruled by the terrible Queen Chrysalis. Nowadays, I am fortunate to call the Crystal Empire home, and their Royal Family my friends.

Since I'm rather new to living in pony society—without orders to infiltrate, of course—my new friends have been doing their very best to help me get acclimated to this strange, alien way of life. To this end, Princess Cadence has instructed me to tell you of my experiences so that we might use this as time to reflect together. However, I do find it strange. How am I to discuss my day to day interactions with a book? Especially one without a name? You can't not have a name, that would just be rude. So, I will just have to figure one out for you.

I'm not sure why Cadence is laughing at that, or why Shining Armor is groaning. This is a very serious issue.

These ponies are strange. But I don't think I'd have them any other way.

A little thing for me to fiddle with when I'm bored. Updates will likely be sporadic. Tagged as a prequel/sequel to The Face I'll Wear because it will explore some of the same themes and will show events before and after the story.

It turns out that Sunset Shimmer's final letters to Princess Celestia before her exile were not filled with resentment or remorse.

There might have been a lot more frantic running away involved.

But whatever the case, it was definitely not Sunset's fault.
