As the Princess of Canterlot, the Mistress of the Sun, and the most beloved ruler of Equestria, it could be assumed that Princess Celestia was the pony who ran Equestria. Few people know that she actually doesn't.

Her assistant, Raven Inkwell, does. And Equestria would be nothing without her.

Funny isn’t it? Everypony thinks Equestria is a utopia, a place of friendship and magic where everything is just fine. But all you see is Ponyville and Canterlot. Wonderful cities to be sure, but didn’t you notice how the rest of Equestria is different? Unfortunately all your world sees are propaganda reels from our universe. But even then, you can surely see the difference.

Perhaps you’ve noticed how the country isn’t run as such. Of course we have princesses, but when they hold court all they do is solve small disputes, little issues, they help two enemies become “friends”. They resolve matters of the greatest important to the individual, but of no importance to the nation. If they did anything it’d involve stumbling into a town, forcing ponies to shake hooves and hoping for the best. There are no real laws, the only law here is friendship.

Perhaps this system works. I’m certainly no authority on the matter, but I’d like you to entertain the idea that it could be improved. Just a thought. Oh but what do I know? I’m only a lieutenant in Her Majesty’s Royal Guard. I am a pawn in their machine, ready to do their bidding, absolutely loyal to my celestial masters.

All I suggest is that someone should help them fix Equestria. Someone who can look beyond friendship. Who me you say? Forgive me, but I am but a guard. I pledge only to do my duty, that is all. Whatever that may entail...

Disclaimers and additional notes:

One doesn’t need to have seen or read either version of House of Cards or have an intimate understanding of politics to understand this story. It is only a parody in the loosest possible terms, that being it is about power and politics.

This story is not meant to endorse or reflect any real world political opinion or candidate. It is a work of fiction based on my observations of the political landscape in Equestria and the absurdity of such a society.

As I began writing this in 2014, the canon may differ from the show. I have attempted to keep it accurate up to at least season 4. There are certainly references to things that happen later than that, but beyond a certain point I’m pretty loose with show canon.

I don’t think I could have ever asked for such a good artist. It’s such a pleasure to have your work as a cover for mine.

I cannot give enough thanks to this guy for putting up with my crap and helping make this the best story possible. It’s been a real labour of love for the both of us and a real pleasure working with him.

Let me give this to you straight. I'm a doctor. My title says 'Nurse', but I'm a doctor. I deal with sick and injured ponies daily, and give both treatment and advice to them with trust and confidence. That includes a certain six friends and their own medical needs.

If the rest of Equestria actually knew that disaster was one missed pill away, I don't think 'riots in the streets' would be sufficient to cover it. But I'm bound by Doctor/Patient Confidentiality, so I guess I'm the thin red line between civilization, and eternal enslavement by some horror from beyond.

That eternal enslavement thing sounds better every day, mind you.

It had been nearly a year since you won that labor lottery. This job had quickly turned into the best thing that has ever happened to you and your family. From the Grestin checkpoint, you had seen it all; terrorist attacks, long-seperated lovers getting back together, people trying to smuggle drugs into the country...
None of that compares to the day a portal opens to an alternate dimension just outside the walls.
Which is bad, because inevitably that means more papers for you to check and double check.
But still, a job's a job. Might as well keep a straight face about it...
And remember:
Glory to Arstotzka.

When Twilight received a letter from Luna informing her of Princess Celestia's death, she had no idea what to expect. However, nothing could have prepared her for what followed.

Nopony has heard from Fluttershy for three months. Not Rainbow Dash, not Rarity, not even Pinkie Pie. Her friends have been tending to the cottage and her animals, keeping it clean and organized, but even with Twilight's constant magic scans and a semi-constant guard search Equestria-wide, no hint has been found of where she went, how she vanished, or why she didn't tell anyone. Some ponies even think, in their darkest nightmares, that she might be dead.

Then she shows up one day, very definitely not dead, but just as definitely not the same as she was.

And does she have a story to tell. Boy, does she ever...

This story is a sequel to Ponyville Holds An Election

A year after Ponyville's first and only (botched) election resulted in Mayor Mare staying in a job she often dislikes, she has become quite the lush. One day, Spike – tired of his thankless existence under Twilight Sparkle – walks in on the mayor while she is inebriated. After throwing caution to the wind by allowing an underage dragon to imbibe, the two begin to rant about their issues. Mostly Twilight.

Updates intermittently, whenever I can come up with a decent story.
Note: All chapters can stand on their own, because I hate cliffhangers just as much as you.

Before the Rebellion, before the explosion of the Death Star, there was another man who made his mark in both galactic history and the history of a certain planet.
Kane Leumai, now Lord Deimos, a former apprentice of Darth Sidious and current fugitive, his apprentices, Arina Ferin and Verus Kahn, and his most recent partner, R3-B5, are on the run from Imperial authorities until a desperate decision forces them into the Unknown Regions, where their ship begins to splinter apart and land in different areas of the planet.
Surprisingly Deimos' apprentices and droid survive as they crash land in the land of Equestria, where they are discovered by Equestrian authorities and brought to Canterlot.
As for Lord Deimos himself, he is discovered by a band of slaveowners, where he is subdued in a weakened state and forced to fight for the amusement of the crowds from another part of the world.
But as each event continues, Equestria is looming on the brink of war, and only these new arrivals can stop it.

Note: This is a reboot of my first story, Star Wars: Among Terror.

This story is a sequel to Ordinary Nightmares

Derpy has had a lot of misadventures. Amid them all have been moments of happiness, sadness, hope, and despair. She has come face-to-face with mad scientist wizards, tea-loving pirates, changelings, ancient dragons, and even the breaking of reality itself. All along, there has been a pervasive sense in her mind that it was all beyond her; that simple little Derpy Hooves from Ponyville wasn't meant for moments like these. Somehow though, against all odds, she has succeeded time and again.
Now, that peculiar tendency brings Discord to ask her assistance in a unique crisis of his own making. Aeons ago, he made a machine with a unique ability: the power to invert the probability of the entire universe. It is a machine that makes the most unlikely the most likely, and the most probable all but impossible. If it becomes active, the consequences will be catastrophic in ways that defy imagination.
Only a pony with almost no chance of stopping such a contraption has any chance of stopping it at all. The best-laid plan will go awry, and the greatest hero will doubtlessly fail. Fortunately, there is one pony in Equestria who was never meant to be a hero.
