A Busy Christmas to all and a Merry New year. · 12:37am Dec 22nd, 2019
So, as is obvious, I'm a new writer. But I've always enjoyed writing and artistic activities. I had a great time finishing off Twilight Sparkle: A Canterlot Day and really started to find a flow to my writing. At the same time, I didn't want to loose momentum for my next story: Vacation For Three Please so I started writing one before I finished the other, to give myself a push to finish the next story. I have three more planned to write as well and when this next one gets near the end I'll start on one of those ideas.
But these last few weeks have been hectic. As happens when you get towards Christmas and are looking for work. When work comes up you just have to take it, sometimes it means you miss a week or two of being creative, but hey, that's the life of an artist attempting to work their way into any field.
Anyhow, explanation over, and we're back on track to finish Vacation for Three Please, which I'm really excited about. I'm really enjoying exploring emotional relationships and playing with different methods of writing, different creative pathways maybe.
I cannot say momentum for Auroras & Souls has continued in the same positive light. It's blatantly obvious from the statistics that it isn't as popular, and quite frankly, I can see why. My initial writing for it was a great place to teach myself editing, error correcting and proof-reading, but the actual content of each chapter definitely spreads thin between a lot of action and maybe not enough context.
It's interesting to see just how I approach writing now, to how I did back when I started writing it. My later chapters are clearer and better defined than the originals (most not published yet), but I think there are a lot of muddled chapters to sift through to get to those, especially for readers new to a story. This is all me looking at my own work objectively.
I'm going to keep writing for it, but at the moment, I'd like to do a major re-edit of the initial chapters and then continue the story from where I have gotten too. (Of course, maybe I'm wrong and my current readers very much enjoy it. But seeing as I'm only a start up writer I don't think many will mind.) We'll see how I feel once I've done another read of it. I might surprise myself.
Anyway. I'd just like to say a very Merry Christmas to all. I was thinking about writing a one chapter short for Christmas - we'll see. I haven't written a one chapter short before, would be an interesting challenge in itself. Thank you so much to everybody who has enjoyed my writings to date, you are all great and constructive in one way or another.
As a pre-christmas gift to all the Vacation For Three Please readers, there are two chapters coming within the next few days, just in the proof-reading stage. It was only going to be one chapter, but the typing fingers don't stop writing.
Merry Christmas all!
Blues Rider.
