My mortgage caseworker is Fluttershy, and also PCaRG review roundup #1. · 9:18pm Mar 17th, 2017
No, seriously. This girl is so phone-awkward and it's fucking adorable.
Every time I call in to do a payment it's just like:
Her: "Okay, Mr. ____, that's all set up and will withdraw from your account on Monday."
Me: "Alright, thank you."
Her: "You're welcome. Uh... um... bye."
And whenever she leaves a message, she gives her contact information in a sing-song tone.
Basically all I picture.

Anyway, this other thing: I'm going to start doing a weekly blog post summarizing the past week's reviews at the Pleasant Review Group.
Maturity: Teen
Genre: AU, Dark, Displaced
Final Score: Needs Work.
A Displaced fic where the human protagonist becomes Makuta Teridax from LEGO Bionicle. While there are issues with style and spelling/grammar, as well as loads of filler, the real killer is the dull and frustrating protagonist, who calls out the tropes, claims he's too smart to fall into the tropes, and then goes ahead and does the tropes anyway because he feels like it; and beyond that is just every childish jackass HiE you've ever read.
Maturity: Mature, Sex
Genre: Clop, Comedy, Dark, Equestria Girls, Shipping
Final Score: Recommended for EQG and shipping fans who can enjoy clop/kink.
Human-Twilight's general social ostracism and bullying now includes a ton of sexual harassment, and when she goes all Nightmare on the students, her revenge takes a decidedly sexual and kinky bent. I felt the story dragged in the middle due to a lack of focus and an inconsistent tone, but the writing itself was solid, and it was never actually bad. The climax in Chapter 10, however, was excellently done, and earned this a recommendation for any EQG fans/shippers who are okay with clop and kink. One warning, however: I felt that Chapter 6 crossed a line from “Mind-Control NonCon” to “actual straight-up rape”, and some may find that off-putting.
Maturity: Mature, Sex
Genre: Comedy, Random, Romance
Final Score: Recommended for terrible people.
The best writing on the worst subject I’ve seen in a while. The author is a monster.
Maturity: Teen
Genre: Adventure, AU, War Fic
Final Score: Needs Work.
Terrible monsters attack the dragons, griffons, and changelings. Equestria is next, and all four races must band together to survive. While not unsalvageable, the story is in need of a major overhaul, with attention given to multiple areas. Spelling/grammar errors are frequent, plot details are often questionable, out-of-character abounds, and descriptions never have impact.
Maturity: Teen
Genre: Adventure, Crossover, Ponyfinder, Thriller
Final Score: Needs Work.
This is a crossover between MLP:FiM and Ponyfinder, a homebrew variant of Pathfinder where ponies (among others) are a playable race. Pathfinder is a variant of Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition with generally streamlined rules, rebalanced classes, and a love of grimdark. This story is a sequel to one where Applejack winds up in Ponyfinder and takes class levels. In this story, the Cutie Mark Crusaders wind up in Ponyfinder and take class levels. Then they dithered around in their starting town doing odd jobs until Asilin got tired of reading a story with no plot.
Maturity: Teen
Genre: Adventure, Dark, Sci-Fi, Thriller, Time Travel.
Final Score: Must-Read.
Time travel. Changelings. Gritty alternate history. Do any of those terms appeal to you? Then this merits a look. And give it a few chapters to get going — they’re only about 1500 words each. The story has some odd writing quirks (most notably a near-total lack of dialogue, with most conversations instead described in narrative), but also some excellent worldbuilding and action. If it keeps up the current quality, it will likely be brought up for Masterpiece once completed.
Maturity: Everyone
Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life, Bait-and-Switch
Final Score: Recommended for laughs.
Luna versus Celestia! Is it really a NLR fic? We Recommended it, so probably not. However, this was well-written and well-done for the type of story it is. On the other hand, this is a pretty basic premise that the story doesn’t do a whole lot to expand upon. Still, we feel entertainment value won out in the end and earned it the score it got.
Maturity: Teen
Genre: Dark, Drama, Equestria Girls, Sad, Tragedy
Final Score: Needs Work.
Rainbow Dash's father has left them, and her mother is an abusive alcoholic. While the story has the length to properly explore such heavy topics as abuse and neglect, it unfortunately seems to just hit the notes without any depth. The characters play the roles as expected of them, they take the actions expected of their roles, and everything comes off as very clinical. As Minds Eye put it, "The story is less of a story and more like a public service movie they'd show us at school every now and then. There's no real story arc or development to it. The very characters could be almost anyone else, and things would be pretty much the same." I suppose it's worth a look if you really want to know what an EQG child abuse PSA would look like, at least...
That's all for this week. We'll see if we can keep this pace up for another one.
That's adorable, that thing at the top.
All I can think is, is she single? Are you? :V

I have no idea about her, but Asilin is actually my wife.
4460785
I wondered. :V

...how did you miss that? We've been relatively open about it in the reviews.

I don't pay attention to things. :C
