Finally getting closer to maybe writing something someday - at least, I'm finally doing research again for one of the story ideas I've had. The problem with Idea 1 is that it's a giant crossover, so the "research" I'm doing entails wading through giant swamps of fan theories, trying to see if there's anything useful that other people have come up with for how a certain aspect of the non-pony half of the crossover works. And I'm doing that because it's an incredibly important aspect of Non-Pony-World, but one that we haven't had much explicit information about how it works, and because I'm not sure I'm creative enough to come up with a comprehensible interpretation without help.
(Edit: The story to which "Idea 1" is referring, is the untitled MLP/Homestuck crossover I mentioned in this post)
I have also been thinking about a few other ideas, mostly my hypothetical "obscure word" stories. I think the one most likely to be written is for the word Aubade, but only if I manage to wake up and see the sunrise someday.
The third set of ideas is one I'm not at all sure I can explain to anyone in a way that makes sense, but that basically involves writing a story to "go with" a certain musical piece. Trying to make the rhythm of the words in the story and the rhythm of the music match, while letting the plot of the story match the mood of the music. It is probably a silly idea and I have very little idea how I would accomplish it as yet.
If anyone is reading this - how do you actually write things? Like, how do you drag yourself out of the quagmire of "research" and "planning", and actually put something out there for people to read? Is that something hard for you, or do you just go "Ah whatever" and post stuff? I really don't know what I'm doing here.
Edit 2: If I ever actually get around to those reaction blogs again, the next five up are currently
1. A Lot to Think About - Sad / Alternate Universe - chronicLurker
2. Rarity Has a Book on Her Head - Random - Majin Syeekoh
3. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - Sad - A Hoof-ful of Dust
4. To the Sun - Slice of Life - Titanium Dragon
5. Twilight Meets Herself - Comedy / Random - Foals Errand
Edit 3:
This was a little early for my usual midnight/early-morning ramblings, but if you factor in Daylight Savings then it's still sorta midnight-ish.
