    Thinking of Dystopias...

...and ponies, and potential crossovers. The probability of me actually writing this (or anything for the site) is still rather low, but I somewhat randomly remembered one of the story ideas I'd been thinking about a while ago. Well, that led to me remembering a couple of the ideas I had, and looking back at my old blog posts reminded me of many more, but that's not important right now.

    Headcanon Contributors

So... this blog is for keeping track of what, specifically, the stories on my Headcanon Contributors shelf have contributed to my headcanon. Because sometimes, it is not something obvious. In theory, this is something I'll update as I add things to that shelf. In practice, who knows?

The Day The Chaos Stopped by alarajrogers - The whole thing, I'm pretty sure.

Fake It Till You Make It (S8E4)

This reaction is super late, I know. But I was so disappointed in The Maud Couple when it came out, that it took me a while to want to watch again. However, I loved this episode. Not sure how much of that is because Fluttershy is the character I relate to most, and how much is the episode quality.

    The Fair Folk

(A note before we begin: I tend to use the words fairy and faerie in slightly different ways, depending on which type of entity I mean. If I am talking about a relatively friendly, Disney-ified being, I use fairy. If I want to talk about a more mythical, more dangerous kind of being, I use faerie. It doesn't really matter, general opinion today seems to be that the

    Caught Up?

So I finally watched the Season 7 finale episodes last night. I'd have to rewatch it before attempting to give any opinion on quality, but I do very much appreciate the increased historical lore that this season has given us. For the moment, I am happy.

What's relevant is Divergent. What can I say? Give me a system with categories, and I will try to sort characters from other media into those categories. They're just interesting to me, for whatever reason. I realize it's an awful world to actually live in but man, those factions, and the idea of having to choose which one... Even with the testing that says where you ought to belong, it's still, effectively, your choice and your own fault if you think you picked wrong.

If I were to write the crossover with MLP, though, I might have to make it less culturally iffy to change from the faction you were born in to another - I see quite a few of the Mane 6 as being faction transfers. I think the story would have to be Applejack-centered for a decent portion of it, because she's got the most emotional faction choice. Amity-born, I'm sure, but then she has to choose between Amity (and her family) and Candor (for the Honesty) thing. Pretty sure it'd have to be Candor in the end, but if I did it right, it could get nicely stressful.

Twilight would be Erudite-born Erudite, Rainbow Dash a Dauntless-born Dauntless, and Pinkie Pie an Abnegation-born Amity. Fluttershy and Rarity are a little trickier, though. Fluttershy has to be Dauntless-born to keep her foalhood with Rainbow Dash. I want to put her in Abnegation based on personality, but... there's also her animals, and that might work better with Amity (which I vaguely remember as being responsible for farming, and thus probably has animals as part of their purview). As for Rarity... I keep defaulting to having her be Erudite-born (possibly influenced by her occasional glasses-wearing). I could put her in Amity (as the friendly, and most colorful, faction) but my gosh would it be fun to have her in Dauntless. Perhaps she can be the divergent one of the story.
I seem to headcanon Erudite as mostly-unicorn, Dauntless as mostly-pegasus, and Amity as mostly-earth-pony, with Candor and Abnegation more mixed. As far as I can tell, that makes sense.
