Obama Returns Chapter
Sorry the Obama Returns chapter's a few days late. It actually got done a bit early, but at the last minute I got a pretty bad cold and couldn't really get out of bed for a couple days. I'm still not doing that great, honestly, but I don't want to keep my fan(s?) waiting. :|
Anyway, the finale of the Scootaloo arc is out. Read, enjoy.
And… you might be wondering why this post is tagged with Lavender Alicorn, and not Obama Returns. The reason is simple.
…well, not really. That's why I'm dedicating an entire blog post to it.
Merging Warning
Lavender Alicorn and Past the Edge of Equestria are actually not one shots. They are both chapters of Obama Returns to Equestria written in advance. And their spots in canon are finally arriving. When the next chapter of Obama Returns comes out, those two stories will be deleted and merged into Obama Returns.
I wrote them out of order because the Equestria Daily prompts happened to work really well for establishing the plot points those chapters needed to cover. Unfortunately, the downside is… this confusing bullshit.
This is what I meant when I said…
I'm trying to hint at a plotline for a future story without giving too much away. Usually I'd release the other story first, but this flash fiction event came at a convenient time and seemed the perfect way to develop this part of its plot more.
…on Lavender Alicorn two years ago.
So, those of you waiting for a Lavender Alicorn sequel… this is good, sort of? :p
I'm posting this in advance because I'm not quite sure what that's going to look like from your perspective. It's probably going to be a bit screwy. So stay tuned.
Depending on how I'm feeling, the chapter might be a little late next week as well. But Obama Returns Act I is approaching its finale, which is exciting. :p
Dun dun dun...
Can you please not delete Lavender Alicorn? I quite like the story as a oneshot, and don't have that much of an interest in reading a longer story right now. Is there any downside to keeping Lavender Alicorn around for people who read it years ago and still want to see it as its own story?

Mainly, the site rules. They explicitly ban:
If I merged the story into Obama Returns and kept the original, I'm pretty sure I would run afoul of most or all those rules.
In addition, personally, I would rather just have one definitive copy of the story.
Maybe "deleting" was the wrong word. I'm just going to unpublish it. You'll probably still be able to access the original one shot—it will just be hidden.
Also, I'm not really changing any of it. I'm just moving it to the other story. You can just ignore the other chapters if you want. But if you want to find out what happens afterwards, you might need some context—which would apply whether I moved the story or not.
If I didn't move the story, though, if people wanted to read my series in chronological order, they would have to follow contrived instructions like, "Okay, now before you read this chapter, read this one-shot." And that just sounds really terrible. :|
